One for Bear, who may now have to vote Tory.

Fair enough. I still remember the signs in London boarding houses
    saying: "No Blacks, No Irish".

You lived in the posh part of town.

He's an immigrant's son, and his daughter was a major drug dealer at
    university.

Funny how those two facts don't appear to be reflected in his policies
    and speeches.

  9. This bit I agree with.
To be fair the fact he is the son of an immigrant pops up all the time
and I have heard him make mention of it himself. The second fact I did
    not know.

I have a feeling that the LD's are going to do exceptionally well -
nothing to do with the way that site loads the responses - it's just a
    gut feeling.

On my recent travels about the country I have seen a great number of the
yellow diamonds in peoples' cars and houses but no Labour or Tory ones.
    Certainly not in such proliferation.

There's a large number of Tory and Labour activists who are too
embarrassed to declare their affiliation, which doesn't bode well for
them picking up the floating voter.

I'd already decided, for the first time in 40 years of voting, not to
vote Labour. One day they may find their way again, but not for a
    while I guess.

By way of contrast, over the BOSM weekend, I saw nothing but Tory
placards (on sticks in fields, mainly), not one political banner for
    anyone else.

At least he has plenty to chat about with Jack Straw, then. Is
fathering a drug dealer a job requirement of home secretaries,
    nowadays?

No wonder Blunkett was so keen to claim paternity.

That's always the case and I wasn't including sticks in fields as they
tend to be organised and paid for - in that party workers put them up on
a sympathetic landowner's field. I was referring more to 'normal'
    private individuals making a statement.

It wasn't last time. Linda and I went round the UK during the 2001
campaign, and there was barely a blue stick in any field. Nearly all
    red or yellow.
