Because you end up paying for stuff whether you want it or not.

Seeing as how it was introduced to help Wellington defeat Napoleon, I
think the joke's wearing a little thin, tbh.

Yebbut, you don't get your potholes filled *every* April, do you.

Got to have some benefit from having 40,000 sweaty arseholes tramping
past my front door on Sunday, I suppose.

No. True. They fill them every time there's a Z in the month.
You can sit there shouting "Give up! You'll never make it, you losers!".
    I know I would.

Is that what they're proposing or is it restriction by skills like the
Aussie's do? Personally, I've no object to the latter.

However, I know the difference between an economic immigrant and a
refugee. It seems a lot of people don't.

  12. Both the calculator is about income net of tax and not about expenditure
such as mortgages. Of course you're going to feel only comfortably off
when you consider what you spend but you're still comfortable. This is
rather than counting every last bloody penny as many people have to do
or who are otherwise in horrendous debt and trying to forget about it.
*ding*. I wasn't remotely surprised to find I was there and I'm a long
way from being the highest earning person on ukrm.
It isn't bollocks at all in my view in terms of income. It's how people
then go and spend their money that determines if they feel poor or not.
People "expect" to be surrounded by every lifestyle accoutrement these
days and thus spend themselves into poverty while not valuing the
possessions they own as a result of becoming encumbered by debt. The
    world's gone mad.

Somebody really ought to do something to rid the world of this
    stereotype.

I had a curry delivered the other day. 20 minutes before it was due
there was a knock on the door. I opens it and sees stereotypical Indian
sub continent Muslim in toga and fez proffering stereotypical brown
paper bag full of molten butter and other fats.

Normally I would have braced myself for the pong of cardamom but
completely and utterly to my surprise I was taken by a fabulous
fragrance coming from this bloke. After shave or something but *lots*
of it and really rather nice.

This sort of stopped me in my tracks and made me take note of the arm
holding the bag and the body it was attached to. The bloke was *CLEAN*,
I don't just mean washed, I mean purified. From head to toe this
"stinking fucking dirty wog" was as immaculately turned out as it was
possible to be. And this was just to deliver? Assuming he is typical
of a low grade Muslim worker I don't think it is them that need the
    lessons.

Time to send the wife out to work, I think.
I think lots of people manage to get by on much less money than we think
    possible.

It's making some sort of adjustments somewhere. I get 89% currently but
that rises to 99% if I cap[1] the wife and kid.

    Hmmm.
