40 years ago every bugger used to stick up a "I think my self serving
**** is better than your working class traitor ****." Mind you we had
politicians worthy of the name in those days and folks actually stopped
and took notice of what they were saying and were equally proud to
publicly declare support for one or another. People who truly believed
that their way was the best way forward for them and the country as a
whole and not just a means of advancing their "career."

Bit harder now innit? Yeah I feel Nu Labour have got something going
for them but I don't want nobody to know that I in *any* way support
anything the lying, cheating, manipulating, mostly out the country,
career minded **** in a shiny, blue, Saville Row suit who fronts for
them says, does, thinks or implies.

Funnily I recall seeing loads of Tory in Field placards last time. I
probably saw a couple and it stuck in my mind that Sussex was plastered
    with them.

I still think the LDs are going to make a surprisingly strong showing
    this time round.

They creep up a little more year on year. I dunno if their immediate
target is a hung parliament or the opposition benches right next to the
speaker but one or two more elections and you is going see either if not
    both of these happen.

I think it would be better for them and thus for us in the future if
they came second first and were able to find out a little more about
front line opposition politics before embarking on full out gummint
control. To this end they need voting for en mass rather than
piecemeal. Sadly though I don't think this is going to happen and we
are going to have to suffer a bunch of rank fucking amateurs riding
roughshod over our wishes rather than the professionals we are used to.

Like all the parties, they have *something* you agree with and
Greenpeace have loads of good angles too.

Yeah they have lots of stoopid ideas, anti nuclear power too, luddites.
Still, I wouldn't mind burning some cleaner fuel in my vehicles if it
gave similar performance and was cheap.

Oh hush, you tax-free socialist! :p

I have just discovered the joys of raping credit card companies
for interest (new card, 9 months interest free, max out credit
limit immediately with cheque payable to high interest account,
then pay it all back in 9 months' time)

Now to start arguing about upping my credit limit. And then the
    next card... :)

Who's that with? Most CC companies I've seen treat cheques as cash and
exempt them from the interest free offers. In fact they normally charge
higher interest for cash than purchases.

No, I'm just saying the consequences seem acceptable, to me, in return
for cheap available electricity over the next 2 or 300 years. No matter
what your friend fears, no nuclear power reactor accident is going to
lead to a mass extinction event.

I've rethought my site approach. Wales could become a large reactor farm
    for UK, Ireland, Holland etc.

Marbles, Lloyds TSB platinum, Virgin (MBNA), there's no shortage.

CC cheque -> account -> "balance transfer", etc.

I see, 2 stages then? CC cheque from your current provider and then
quickly transfer the balance to a new provider with a 0% deal on
transfers. Don't know why I didn't think of that before.

Round here it's a pretty safe seat for the LDs (except that we've got that
repellently shiny little turd Steve Webb for a candidate) with the Army of
Darkness in second place and the Party of Treason coming a very poor third.
I'd vote Labour if only they'd have Blair beheaded publicly and his corpse
    hung up for the crows.

As it is, I'll probably vote LD but I don't have to like it.

Point of order, does anyone *not* have a repellently shiny little turd
as an MP? And/or not have a repellently shiny little turd as a prospective
    candidate for their chosen party?

It takes a special kind of man to be an MP. For my sins, I was quite
impressed by the sheer blokiness of Lembit Opik. Shame he's shagging
    that sticky-mouthed welsh grimmer, really.

I like Lembit, not least for his silly name and unfathomable taste in
    munters.
