NEC Show

  1. For those of you who have been already is it worth going to see this
    year?

I'm in two minds as to whether to go tomorrow or not.

I'll be there working with graham from GLF Accessories, and so will
BigJ, so I'd say no. Unless you want to spend even more money with us.

I enjoyed the show, reckoned there was a fair bit of new stuff to see, more
    so than last year.

I went on Weds for a few hours.

The show seemed smaller, there was less to look at and there didn't seem
to be anything that well priced.

I went up thinking I might buy an Autocom, some new boots and a pair of
    half-decent cordura trousers.

The Autocom crowd wanted 144- for the basic unit and wouldn't throw in
the curly cord from the helmet to the unit. This probably costs them
one or two pounds if they buy it in (a guess based on my experience of
priced of 'stuff' from the far east).

There were lots of cheap cordura trousers and plenty of decent ones.
There didn't seem to be any reasonably priced decent ones though. Saw
some Shoei ones I liked but they were 100- which was more than they were
    worth to me.

Saw some nice Sidi Courier boots. They were 139- but didn't have my
size. They will let me buy my size within two weeks for the same price,
delivered. I may take them up on that.

I walked away with a stick on sunstrip thing for my helmet and a can of
    "purple helmet polish"

Either I'm getting old and have everything I need, or I'm getting
tighter or the show isn't that good this year. Take your pick.
I'm in two minds whether it was worth going at all. 16 quid is fucking
    expensive for entry IMO.

    The thought provoking things were:

    1. The "King Shave" stand. What was that all about? Did you have a
shave so you could stare at some birds tits while she shaved you?

    2. Some fucking wanker wandering around with a four year old girl. The
girl was wearing a T-Shirt stating "Too much princess for any single
boy". What the **** was her father thinking, she's only four for
    heaven's sake.

    I'm getting old.

Aye, a right grouchy old fucker. You didn't mention a single bike!

I acquired a Dainese G.Free leather jacket for about £50+ less than local.
Hey it's OK now Bear has departed?
The only off-the-peg I've found to fit in 10 years. Nice and black with no
    gay bits. Well chuffed.

Then again I couldn't get anyone to beat Crossans on a new RX7 Corsair.

The report I got back from one of the guys at the SP was that it was
    disappointing.

Depends what you are going for specifically, I suppose.

In this week's MCN there was a double-page spread about the bargains to
be had. There were some very good deals, but mostly of the
    once-every-ten years-I'll-buy this-thing, rather than the once-a-year
    type.
