We have separate accounts, and a joint account that's fed by standing orders from the separate accounts. All the household bills (including the mortgage) are paid from the joint account. This gives us independent finances while making sure the bills get paid first. I still have a joint a/c with my ex. We each pay into it a fixed amount each month, and out of it go all the bills to do with the joint mortgage that we still have. I do sense that our relationship is unusual, though, in that we're still on reasonably good terms.
I might go, if I can get the day off work. Not so much to see what's new, but to enjoy a little time in the company of some seldom seen friends. But I guess some people just aren't sociable. And after being humiliated in the World Cup I guess every good bok will be sulking indoors.
