NEC bike show - when to go?

The darling g/f has bought me an 'any day' ticket for the bike show at
    the NEC.
Having never been there before, what is the general opinion on when to
    go?
For Trade shows that I have attended, the consensus is that the first or
second days are the quietest, then it gets busier as the days go on - is
    the bike show the same?

    Alan.

I'm not bothering this year because Milan seemed a better option.

It's only three weeks away and I can't wait, I'll have a quick squint
at the oriental offerings then go and drool over whatever Ducati are
offering. Once that's done I'll see if anyone on the MV stand speaks
English and is willing to tolerate me sitting on their bikes for a
    couple of hours.

I've been told today what 2010 has in store for me and it looks like
being a big earner so I might have to consider a CC.

  4. AOL. Cannae be doing with the throngs this year, plus it's on my rest
day, meaning not going on a weekend and not having to book a day's
leave. And the karting and minimoto activities are included, which
probably offsets the extra ticket price. And we won't have to hang
    around till 10am.

I heard they're all sold anyway. I know two people who bought one - the
    bastards.

Well it is in that that's what people were willing to pay, but no,
definitely not worth it in bike terms. Same with the Tamburini - that
    was 35k iirc.
I doubt many of them have road insurance.

    Thank **** they've all gone.

I'm already having to force myself to believe that the bigger engine
is worth the extra cash but there's no way I'd pay all that just so I
could claim I'd got one of only 100 bikes made. I'd want to change the
exhaust system anyway so what's the point?

    In communiqué <1ioy1zh.1wyxk92xrv6y2N%>,
I haven't been much since I stopped getting a pass from Piaggio in the
Gilera Network (owners club) days. I remember 'scooping' some photos of
the DNA in 98? and getting them on our web site the same night.

The latter. They're aimed fairly & squarely at collectors. It's no
different to the 'buy a Hornby or Matchbox & never take it out the box'
brigade - just with a bigger price tag.

I wasn't planning to. There'll be nothing new there, as ever (new as
in the sense 'not previously unveiled') because nobody uses the UK for
major launches, with the slight exception of Triumph, and the souk
masquerading as a dealer section won't be selling anything that I
want, or if it does, I'll be able to get it cheaper at Kempton Park
    jumble tomorrow (Saturday 18 October).

I don't want a set of shell-suit leathers: my old black leathers do me
fine. I don't want a new helmet: I bought a black Caberg from Brownz
earlier this year. I've got boots and gloves by the half-dozen pairs.
My Ducati doesn't need any bits. I don't need throwovers, tank bags or
anything like that. I don't have a bike worth stealing, so I'm not
going to be looking for a Queen Mary sized anchor chain, and I don't
want to **** up the wiring loom on any of my bikes so I shan't be
looking for an immobiliser or alarm either.

I've got insurance, so I shan't be assing by the Carole Nash stand. I
have recovery insurance, so the only amusement I'm likely to get from
the AA and RAC booths is if I spot a Wanted poster there with Timo's
    mugshot on it.

I'm unlikely to thrill to the sight of people wobbling round an indoor
trials course or an outdoor scooter test track, or whatever they've
got planned for this year. If I want to see scantily clad ladies
wobbling around, I've got the internet. If I want food poisoning, I'm
sure the nearest kebab shop can oblige.

I don't want to have to push past sweaty Brummies and Northerners
dribbling over the sight on another fucking sports 600. I don't want
to listen to prats bragging about how they got their knee down on one
of those at 180mph on the M25, and I don't want to be saddened by the
sight of a carpark full of old Fords and Vauxhalls disgorging people
    in riding gear.

I've got plenty of chrome on my bath taps, and if I have a sudden
attack of gayness and want some leather tassels then I'll attack an
old jacket with a Stanley knife. If I want to see the sort of creature
who can ride a bike with six-foot wide handlebars, a seat three inches
off the deck, and controls from the dustier aisles of the Science
Museum I'll head for the Monkey House at London Zoo.

I don't want to get cold and soaked riding there and back: I've got
the Elephant to look forward to in January. I don't need to go to the
NEC to have my bike knocked over by someone who hasn't learned how to
park a car: my wife can do that perfectly well.

And I don't want to go to Birmingham.
