With 18 days to go till the six months was up.

Following up from http://makeashorterlink.com/?S6C3120C9 (Google Groups
    Thread).

I have now been told by SWMBO that I have a summons at home waiting to be
    opened, postmarked from Oxford.
Am I likely to be requested to attend Oxford Magistrates court as the
offence occurred in Oxfordshire? If so can anyone recommend a good brief in
    that area? [1]

[1] Thinking that it will be cheaper to pay they're travelling costs if they
only work a couple of minutes from the court itself.

Sounds similar to my pull a few years back (100mph on the M3). I was also
pretty close to the six months when the summons appeared - I guess if the
deadline's nearly up, they shove them out the door as quick as they can. My
court appearance was at the nearest court to where the offence occured (a
major pain to get to without a car).

Look smart, be polite and apologetic, tell them you don't normally drive
like that and you'll never do it again, and you might get lucky like I did
(5 points and a £250 ish fine). Good luck.
