Acksherley, the vessel has just docked in Lyttelton and the containers
will be at the depot for unloading tomorrow. As long as the
Quarantine inspection goes without a hitch you should have your bikes
on Saturday morning if you want.

Call me when you arrive and I should have an answer.

    Kind regards

Sitting there on the last day of the BananaRama-ride in Nov '03...
    The longest group-ride we'd done, 2 weeks of camping-tour, over 5000km
with only 800km of transit-sections, the rest twisties and sweepers.
Trucking the bikes to Brisbane, flying after them a few days later...

Lots of previous rides through the Alpine areas of Vic/NSW as well as
multiple Tassie trips....but how the hell could we top the BananaRama??
Ideas flared at a "reunion"-BBQ a few weeks later.
A quick shake of the map-cupboard showed a collection of 30 years,
covering about 2/3 of the globe.
To get the biggest kick per $$, it had to be at least 4 weeks, the
longer the better.NZ offered itself as a BIG version of Tassie and the
    Fire'n Ice_NZ'05 ride
was born. 12 months later and we're only days away now...our bikes in
the container should nearly see the NZ coast by now.

That fateful BBQ also somehow changed things profoundly for most of
those there. It showed that people of all sorts of backgrounds/ age-brackets
were willing to make long-term sacrifices for the sake of a BIG-ride.

Bosses were "bribed" and coerced into crediting overtime to annual
leave, bigger purchases re-assessed and postponed or simply scrapped.

While at it, the Euro-Alps 2007 tour was also born, requiring even more
time/ planning/ scheming and organizing.6-weeks for that one and a
    fleet of Hire-bikes in Europe...

And there's the first faint glimmers of the Springbok-Rumble 2010,
another BIIIG one, riding the best roads of South Africa.
The time in between used to go for breath, financially and otherwise.

    Looks like lifestyle now... :))

Already had the first "casualty"of the NZ-run... Jimbo, the
Yank-contingent (newsgroups are wonderful places to meet, eh?) had an
altercation with an "archetypal Blonde in a 4WD" on the last day before
    leaving
and trowelled his bike solidly near his home in Hawaii. X-rays showed
no damage to his left ankle, so he's just about to touch-down in Sydney
now on his way to NZ and pick-up of a hire- DL650 (the Wee-Strom).

    Keep it upright everyone...
    Cop ya after :)

    Cheers

  6. Yeah yeah, but wozzname-the-annoying-kiwi could have done it cheaper!

(except he's never actually done it before and dowsn't know what he's
doing and you've got a stream of satisfied customers all willing to heap
    praise on your shoulders and...)
