Yup. A bright, dayglo, reflective, main beaming ****. Your point
    being?
    .... both riders and drivers.

I do the same when filtering in slow[1] moving traffic coming up to
motorway roadworks; but only during the day, not when it's dark.

[1] 40 ish; a horrible speed on a motorway designed to encourage people
to swap lanes without thinking let alone indication,

Main beam. I am not qualified to comment on other folks dress sense
    with any degree of credibility.

I expect drivers to be clueless.

I believe it's illegal to use cage lights during the day here, whereas
bike lights should be on all the time...

I could check, but can't be arsed. I've never been stopped, so sod it.

Fairly sure it's not. But that belief, especially if it's based on
older laws, may explain some drivers' reluctance to use them at
twilight. Of course, many of the rest will have their foglights on at
    the same time...

But V*lvos have had them hard wired on for years - QED it
    cannot be illegal. Cannit ?

No they haven't. There's a little grub screw on the light switch
    surround that disables this behaviour.

A couple of the lads swear blind it's the case, but I can't find
    anything on it.

I've not noticed the Vulvas over here (Not really a common cage
either). But they have side lights hardwired, no?

IIRC, there's supposed to be a euro law being discussed whereby all
bikes (and cages?) have their lights hard wired, isn't there?

I heard this was being discussed also, I think if it goes through it will
be detrimental to the "safety" of bike riders in that the differential
between lit and unlit headlights, during the day, will be diminished.

Well I've been pulled by French plod, in the volvo, with lights on[1]
and it's not been mentioned. Not that that means anything, I grant
you, but this particular plood would have done me for anything he
    possibly could, I'm sure.

As mentioned elsewhere, this can be turned off by a little screw on
the dash next to the lightswitch.

[1] No, they're not hard-wired on - I just have them on a lot as there
are a couple of tunnels in Basel where they're compulsory and it's
encouraged to have them on at all times there anyway.

  14. Just stick the bike in the garage for a few months. It's far too cold
and wet for riding a bike.

It is at the moment, but the engine is bogging down. Feels and sounds likes
    it's running rich?
It's lost it's top end power, which from the limited info I've found, the
top end should be where it takes off.

There are two key words "appeared", "seem".

Don't trust anyone. Least of all your right hand.

Er, the bit about the hand doesn't apply when you're off the bike.

I'm slowly learning this, but if I treat everyone like they were going to
act like that ****, I'd be driving round very slowly in a very big tank.
