Well if they keep George Best alive for so long then there's hope for us
all. There was a story in the local paper about a guy who went in hospital
for a runny nose problem. They accidently drilled through the top of his
skull and just discharged him in the hope he was a hat wearer and wouldn't
notice. Result near death collapse, brain damage, loss of use of one arm and
    1.25 million quid payout.

The punchline came from his wife " and to make matters worse, he still has a
    runny nose."

I like the word *accidentally*. How on earth can you accidentally drill
through the top of somebodys skull instead of their nose.

But why do noses run and feet smell?

Apparently they thought the drill bit lengths were in cm but in fact they
    were in inches.

<VBG>. I was pretty fit in those days thankfully.

However, i'd completely mis-read the route and got myself into trouble
    very quickly.

Had other fun days out in Wales too, where a rock face turned into
'rocks embedded in mud' so once i'd pulled a few holds out about 20
metres up and showered my belayer with rocks, we decided it wasn't the
best route after all and I abseiled off.

Wasn't as blanching as that bare rock face though, I was quite
    terrified.

    Cheers

    Paul.
