NCB renewed

  1. You might recall that last year, Number One Son had a very low-speed
SMIDSY with some blind bitch in a hire car, who then grabbed his details
and fucked off without leaving hers.

We notified Plod of a 'failing to stop' episode, and they said they
couldn't do much without her vehicle details. Fair enough. Her insurers
wouldn't give her details as it was a hire car... Sigh.

Anyway, she didn't make any claim after the initial try-on, but it
bolloxed his NCB as Auntie Carole treated it as an outstanding claim.

Long story short, they agreed to write the claim off if she hadn't made
    a claim after one year.

Lo and behold, time's up, she hadn't pursued the claim, Auntie Carole
renewed his two years' NCB and provided a letter to his new insurers to
that effect (he'd moved to a cheaper insco; MCE), who paid a refund on
the premium and agreed that when his policy comes up for renewal, he'll
have three years' NCB istead of one.

    A result.

Still irritated about the silly bitch who tried it on, but hey-ho, it's
    sorted now.

  2. <snip>

    That was nearly us...

Laura got taken from behind (fnarrr), at a t junction, looked like there
was no damage so Laura got the womans name but not much else. When I
had a look at the car the boot floor was creased :-( Luckily this was
right outside Laura's work (Brum uni) so a good use of google found the
department she worked in, and a bit more googling got her parents
address. Laura tried to contact her through work, and left messages
asking for her details as the damage was worse than she thought, anyway
she refused to respond. I even phoned her parents and explained the
situation but she still never got in touch but anyway, I just gave her
parents address on the claim and it all got sorted out.

We're both sure she thought we were scammers looking for a cash
settlement, the car looked totally undamaged from the outside, but in
fact it was the thick end of 2k damage and a partial boot floor
replacement - Ford Ka piece of crap.

Keeping all the letters and forwarding photocopies seems to work well when
dealing with that sort of nonsense.

  8. A friend of mine, his wife, had a raised mark come up on her face that
proceeded to go dark brown. Big worry about a malignant melanoma. NHS
said the queue for treatment was some time (weeks) His private health
insurance said go ahead to have it seen to by a specialist as it could
be serious. Specialist does a first stage test to see if it is
malignant, a test which incidentally removed the blemish. The insurance
company said as it wasn't malignant the operation must have been for
cosmetic reasons and they refused to pay up.

They did pay up in the end but only after a lot of threats both legal
    and via the media.
