  1. bugger.

there were some seriously rare things there.

Mind, it'll give the restoring types about 20 year's fun rebuilding 'em.

Not old buildings, mind, so I wonder they didn't have sprinkler systems and
    the like.

  2. Probably not required for a single storey building,
and everyone inside seems to have got out safely.

It's not single storey, the surface buildings have rooms on the first floor
and the structure actually goes down some way, two floors below ground that
I know of and possibly more.

As someone has already pointed out - the petrol tanks and sumps are
drained and I doubt there is any vapour left after all those years.
I don't see anyone trying to ban smoking while riding a bike with the
fag about a foot from the tank, or while driving a car (sitting
    inside a bomb<?>).

Given a separate (fire-doored?) room even the dumbest of smokers
would recognise an ashtray and use it. The danger occurs when
smokers needs are not recognised causing these dumbos (who you will
never persuade to stop smoking) to rely on stamping out a fag-end in
    an inapropriate place.

Cigarette smokers are idiotic, undisciplined drug addicts, and the
damage they inflict on society--worldwide--is simply incalculable.

I wish, with all my heart, that whenever smokers light up, they would
suffer an immediate, bloody coughing episode that would only stop when
the cigarette is extinguished. After repeated attempts to smoke, they
may get the picture. Even lower animals can learn through such repetition.

How many more treasures--and people--will be destroyed by smoking-?

I will now sit back and enjoy the flames from the addicts and advocates
    of "smokers' rights."

Since when have smokers had "needs"? What utter tosh. just because some
selfish tosser (if the reports are true) want a fix of his favourite drug
several dozen/hundred people have their lives put in danger and several
hundred irreplaceable motorcycles are destroyed. I hope they bang the
    bastard up.

Well, all right! But there are, sorry, were, some very interesting and
novel solutions to engineering problems. There were. Honestly. Come on,
you do agree really. Don't you. You must, surely?...

    No they won't .
If they are causing dangers, sack them, and get staff that don't smoke
end of problem. You woudn't accept that sort of behaviour from an
alcholic, you wound't make a plea for them to have somewhere safe for
    them to drink...

To begin with I was rather amused by the simplistic self justifying
argument that the ban on smoking caused the fire, rather than a stupid
individual. (Who in all honesty shouldn't be allowed out unaccompanied
    when in possession of matches)

    Then came buzzy.

    I'm with Lozzo on this.....

  17. not to mention the Vincent Black Prince. and the Hesketh. and that funny
closed-in thing, which pre-dated the BMW gadget by a number of years.

and among other things, a prototype 4-cylinder 1000cc triumph.

    and some very old stuff.

I suppose it'll take some time to decide what's buggered beyond repair.

  19. I don't think it's evil. Stupid, maybe. And I have a strong preference for
smoke-free places meself, but you're right about people being allowed to go
to hell in their own way.
