Sounds dreadful, doesn't it. When they torched the place a few years
ago, I thought they might at least use the insurance payout to replace
    it with something more interesting.

I thrashed, er, rode an old 1950s Motoconfort at the AVAC classic bash
in France a few years ago. A 125, I think it was. It went rather well.
Or was it a Monet & Goyon? I disremember now.

Apparently it as the treasured possession of some French burd, whose
expression as I gave it the beans was one of absolute horror.

    Japanese (lots)
    Austrian (Puch Maxi)
    German (NSU Quickly)
    British (Triumph Daytona)
    Italian (Ducati Monza Junior)

Five nationalities, of which only four bikes were from countries other
than Japan out of the 200 plus that have passed through my hands over
    the years.

    Only five:

    Brit (AJS,Matchless,Triumph)
Jap (Suzuki and Yamaha, 2 strokes only)
Italian (Morini, Gilera , Guzzi, SWM)
    German (BMW)
    French (Voxan)

Still not entirely ruling out the US yet (Buell 1150R). Then I could
at least claim a full set of 72 degree V twins.

  9. Until the fucking Soviets invaded Afghanistan, by all accounts it was a
great place to travel through - Westerners being greeted with
friendliness and hospitality. It'll be a long time before anybody from
the West feels safe there again.

I can vouch for that personally. One example - there were two girls
amongst the six of us [1], and all the way across the country we made
exstensive use of the little tea houses that you find everywhere.
Unfailingly we were met hospitably. It wasn't until well afterwards
that I realised that these tea houses are as "women prohibited" as
gentlemen's clubs in England. We weren't even given a hint of it at
the time - because we were visitors and visitors are treated politely.

In fact, the only country I've found to beat it for hospitality is
    Iran.

[1] Overland to India in 1970 by VW Microbus, as one did.

That's something I really wanted to do, back then. Job and stuff got in
    the way.

    Err...

    No, that's it, I think.

    Unless...

Well, the BlingMobile was actually built in Septicistan, so:

    American - one.

On that basis, the Wing was built in Murka, but is a Canadian model,
imported from Holland, so that's 3 for a start.

    Otherwise:

    2 Suzukis
    5 Kawasakis
    4 Hondas
