  1. I remember visiting Oradour Sur Glane, near Limoge: the French village
wiped off the map by the SS (was it Das Reich division? Cba to Google).

Anyway, it was a gorgeous summer day and the car park was full of German
registered cars. I remember thinking that was slightly bizarre, too.

Are you sure you want to carry on with this sort of mud slinging?

Well I dare say Iraq will again become a tourist spot for Yanks and
    Brits in due course.

Well, "within months" in 1940-odd became "within 45 minutes" in 2002.

    Technology, eh?

Conversely, I've never been and have absolutely no interest in doing
    so.

I went *many* years ago on an Ogri^H^H Ixion run and found it quite
interesting as there were so many bikes I'd never heard of. The only
ones I recognised the the Norton F1 bikes. I remember the place being
huge, packed with bike and very empty of people.

I'm sure it has some appeal for the old biddies but would be packed
    out
if they had a cafe selling cream teas.

Well, I didn't make a special trip. I was at a conference at the
attached conference centre, and had an hour to kill.

Considering its recent-ish history, it's actually quite surprising that
    it contains anything at all.

Nope. I did consider a Triton once, but that was when I was 19 and
    didn't know any better.

    heh.

I guess you could argue that your Harris-framed kawasaki is at least
as "British" as some Bimotas are "Italian".

    Good point.

On further consideration, I realise that I've only ever owner Japanese
    (or at least Japanese-engined) bikes.

That surprises me. I think everyone ought to own an Italian bike once,
if only to let it serve as a potent aversion therapy.

Let's see: I've owned two old Brit bikes (one a basket case, one a
runner, but I didn't keep it long), and one Hinckley bike. Italian
bikes - check. East German bikes - check. West German bikes - check.
Oh, and the Jawa combo - er, Czech.

Nothing American or Chinese (or anywhere else from the Far East except
Japan). I'm trying to think what other nationalities one might own.
Spanish, especially dirt bikes. French - old classics or mopeds.
Indian, of course: Enfields. Russian (paging Platypus).

OK, so Champ scores one nationality. I score five. Any advance?
