While mucking about on guitar todfay, I came across a fragment of tune
that I vaguely recognise, but couldn't place. It's been bugging me all
day, so I wonder if anyone else would know what it was.

Crap recording (on laptop built-in mic), but here it is
    http://acenet.ifrance.com/namethattune.wav

    Anyone?

  2. It does sound somewhat familiar, but Shazam can't figure it out.

    Sounds like Davy Graham, Anji:

Well, I did think ukrm might come up trumps, but not quite that
quickly. Never heard of Davy Graham, but the Simon & Garfunkel version
linked to from that page is closer to my memory, and also very likely
to have been the song that I probably remember a cousin playing about
    thirty years ago.

Funny how some things just stick in your head, innit?

    Thanks guys.

Better late than never but it sounded like Chet Atkins' Windy and Warm,
    to me.
    Memory's a funny thing...

Yeah, it does a bit. It's almost like Davy Graham borrowed bits of
this, the Paul Simon borrowed most of Davy Graham's tune and modified
it a little. But I'm certain, given where and when I would have heard
it, that it'd be my cousin doing a Simon and Garfunkel version that I
    remember it from.

I'll work on it some more.
    Aye, it is that.

Come now, that was no harder than the one Catman or whoever posed the
    other day.

It was the Paul Simon version which was the most popular as Simon and Garf
were already known the world over. This got it air time on the radio,
whereas Davy Graham was more the local "hero" so the original didn't get the
    air time.
Post a complete Ace rendition of it so it can stick in my head too.
