Simply because I'm a mad bastard i decided to test the ExSweller, ExTog
TS-150 on the work commute. Frost, Fog, mental cages on the A27/M23 duly
despatched on the little beasty droning along at 50-55mph for 50miles.

Now i wonder how good the lights are for the madness of the rush hour
    motorway dash home...

    Wish me luck...

Indeedy, but with the added bonus of smelly faintly of 2 stroke oil when you
    get to work...:)

  6. MZ headlights are the best 6-volt lights you'll find. Seriously.

It's that pesky volts, amps, resistance thing.

I've had 12v systems that were worse, even in good condition, than some
of my MZ's. I've also had hideous 6v ones as well...

Ducati 250 Mk3 narrow case. 28W 6v headlight. Genny capable of feeding 28W
over about 60mph in top...just. Scary.

Tis true, but they were surprisingly good last night, and better than the
piss awful RXS lights i had last time. Traffic was a bit "entertaining" on
    the A23 tho...

Must figure why the clutch is sooooo reluctant to disengage when it's cold,
the crashing noises are making me whince, no matter how slowly i make the
    change.

Oh yes and it's rattled out a bolt on the way home, i feel quite proud, a
    proper MZ.

They all do that sir, but maybe not that badly.

If it's just on startup try kicking it over a couple of times, ignition
    off clutch in.

It's worth noting I never changed the gearbox oil just checked it had
some. I'm pretty sure (read: certain) TOG didn't. Try changing it for
    some EP80.
Which bolt? Vibration loosening isn't a *big* problem on MZs.

  15. Having had experience of the TS250/1 lights, I agree they can be good
(for a 6v system), but a 12v conversion was always at the back of my
    mind during ownership.
I'd refill the gearbox with known proper oil (EP80, afair), Sweller will
put you right on that. It's possible someone may have used 90 or 140 in
    it.
Bolt shedding wasn't really a problem with them.

Heh. Today's engineering introduction to sales drones is a lovely whiff of
diesel, got some on my boots from somewhere and being a generous sole (sic)
i decided to see if i can smog out the entire open plan office. (1200bods
    might be a stretch tho...)

It was a very cold morning so that was unlikely to help. Not really
    concerned, more a character trait.
Yup tried that, it's more linked to gearbox temp i reckons.
I found a cracking website for all things MZ (in Germany nach) and they
state on there a straight 80w. I did top it up (there's a weep underneath
somewhere) with some 75W80 syntrax as a stop gap which made it no worse or
better. Will change it out this weekend, can get the little stopper all the
    way back in tho! :)
It looked like it had been recently changed to a stainless jobbie, the 2
bolts holding the rear mudguard to the cast alloy section on either side. It
was my fault i noticed they were very lose when i was leaving work. I
tightened them up as best i could, but one had made a bid (buy it now?) for
    freedom on the A27.

    Now, about that ETZ300...
