My second motorcycle - choices

  1. I'm surprised no one has come up with the simplest fix for an awkward
    seat height; fix the seat.

In my experience in bike sales (not extensive, mind, but some) I found
that people would pine for a bike, then be prepared to walk away when
they found the seat too high, or more commonly, too wide. Either
achieves the same effect as far as feet-to-the-ground goes.

A seat is nothing more than a hunk of foam rubber and a vinyl cover. A
genius like John Moorhouse can transform those simple ingredients into
a delight that you'll never want to get off (it's hard not to shill
    for the man).

Most of his seat mods are to narrow the nose of the seat so that you
get your legs closer to the sides of the bike when you put your feet
down. And the factory foam is, at best, a compromise, and at worst,
completely inadequate. Betty, you need a better seat, too, girl. The
SV seat can be made much, much better.

Yeah, you shouldn't have to modify a stock seat on a shiny, expensive
new bike, but you'll finish up much better off if you do.

And what's this nonsense about poor Honda gearboxes??? Whatever my
CB1300 lacks in terms of "soul" (a word usually applied to a bike that
has flashes of brilliance between repairs) it more than makes up in
ruthless efficiency (and slavish devotion to the Pope...)

Yah I suspect so. The Breva's are nice functional naked bikes with a
good riding position (that fits me well) but the styling really does
    nothing for me.

I concede there are people out there who like that styling.

None of the above should be construed to mean that if I should ever find
a good deal on one I wouldn't buy an 1100 Breva if one came along at the
    right price ;-)

When I saw the Norge I thought it was a Breva with a fairing.

but sitting on it, it felt quite different. damfino how they did
    that!

friend borrowed it today, came back with "it's very forgiving, it
steers beautifully, so light and precise, and I wasn't expecting that
    top end".

  8. Just made my choice, purchased a Honda CB600F Hornet today. Arrives on
    Monday or Tuesday latest :)

Many thanks, everyone, for you comments & feedback.
