  4. I'm sorry to belatedly hear of your misfortune but it's so much better
when the person concerned can report the details rather than some else...

Good luck with your recovery and have fun choosing and setting up whatever
comes next. I know what a pain it can be waiting for a bike to be fixed
when it's only minor cosmetic work; at least by writing it off you can get
on with the purchase as soon as you're fit to ride.

    Best wishes, Bumblebeeman in Brisbane

So true! These middle-aged bones might be taking forever to mend, BUT - I
kept telling myself that at least I know now that I don't have osteoporosis,
heh heh! A wallop like that would've turned things to dust!

Bless you Gerry, for being a gentleman ;-)

Some of the 'lady teachers' at my nice Christian school *snigger* have not
    held back!

"Lady" teachers indeed... One day when you're feeling a bit risqué,
you might share their comments with us... Or on your blog perhaps?
    [evil chuckle] Perhaps not... :-(

That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger?

Yah, they say that but I reckon it's more like "that which doesn't kill
you still makes for strong(er) pain"!

Who cares? It's the rides you remember (and you only have to glance at
Betty's blog to see that she's racked-up a very admirable list of them.
    Indomitable is hardly the word!

Those forks are in better shape than the forks on the Triumph which Clem
rode home from Sydney a few years back.

I think a lot of those places buy wrecks from auction, then try to turn
over the quickest buck possible. That means adding $500 to the price
they paid and advertising the bike for sale as is. If they don't get
any results from that then they strip it for parts or fix it up to sell.

Rode to Walcha, crashed (fracturing a vertebrae), rode on to Guyra, hit a
    kangaroo, then limped home.....

  20. Thank you for the welcome back. The sequence was simple enough: wonderful
BMW R1150R in yellow, blue and black, tax problem, gap for 12 months, then
Honda CB1300F ever since. I miss the shaft drive, panniers and
tele/paralever suspension but not the service costs and the nagging fear
about premature drive line failures that have affected too many of these
great bikes. So my big, black Honda is delivering the goods perfectly,
after 46,000km and no missed beats. I'm even convinced these big suckers
have character. It's certainly become a trusted friend, and keeps a couple
of C50 Cubs company in the garage.

Not a word to my wife about 1300-BUMBLEBEEMAN...
