I have a small folding gas burner, just screws into the top of one of those self sealing gas cartriges, never had a problem with it, works well at rallys, hot enough to boil water without melting the aluminium containers I cook in Mark.
That's what I use, together with a small roll of aluminium flashing that makes a dandy windbreak. Moike
what kinda night would be 12 degree's really, mid summer.. and this whole wintersun thing, mid winter, would i need a 0 degree sleepign bag or a 5 degree?
That would be a Canberra night... http://www.bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/wrap_fwo.pl?IDN10035.txt 9 beers, or half a jar of Stones, seems to do the trick. Gary
i enquired into building a shed as im renting for the time beaing. they said it was fine, if i paid for the shed. but the shed would become the property of the owners. then they said that the shed would increase the value of the house and my rent is based on the value of the house so i spend money to build a shed, and i pay more money, sounds like a good deal? as i also found out after planting a dozen tree's in teh backyard im build on an old RTA parking lot, were the back fense was a road, its hard as a rock, with a thick clay base, probably spilt diesel and other chemicals all around it. wonder why nothing grows, that and the hot dry desert i live in., 55 summers, -6 winters.
Nah, they're over that already. Turns out that the aluminium whassname deposits that have been linked with old-timers disease are in a form that technically can't happen from cooking with aluminium or drinking beer from aluminium cans. It's perfectly safe therefore to cook with aluminium pans, etc, and you'll not suffer any dodgy side effects as a result. Been out all day rode to Warragul stayed there the evening and got back today and find I have been accused of things while I had a few drinkies. sister's getting married this week so it's been a very busy time. btw the pipes sound great so I've been told by my future Brother in law a regular motorcyclist and current bmw owner.
I've got one of these http://www.imagine-it.com.au/ausmoto/sbag.jpg Packs down very small, very warm (-4° I think, anyway fine for mid-winter in Tassie) It's a Mountain Designs Travelite 350. Just got back from Falls Festival, packing up on the last day, a guy walks past and says "you're not really going to get all that onto that bike are you?" Told him to come back in twenty minutes, which he did. Busa carried a 3 man tent with fly, one of those velour topped double airbeds, electric pump to blow up said airbed, sleeping bag, wet weather gear, clothes for 4 days, camera bag carrying 1 SLR camera with 4 lenses, 1 digital stills camera and 1 video camera (didn't take a single shot mind you), battery powered light for tent, battery powered fan for tent, reading material for morning before music started, two pairs sandshoes, towel, fitted sheet for airbed, fold-up pillow for airbed, toiletry bag, fold-up chair. I think that's about it for major items. And I still wasn't completely loaded, could have taken more. Amazing what you can pack on ...
