  1. Everyone I know who owned a Chopper knackered themselves on the gear
lever. I see the new Chopper has the gearchange placed on the bars, "for
    safety reasons"

    Bah. Spoilsports.

Blokes think "Chicks dig scars". But it's a bloke thing. I've also
discovered that chicks don't dig winners of peeing or farting
    contests.

Do you know anyone that actually did some harm, permanently, because of
the gear lever? Rather than just winded.

Or is it a bit like the "a swan will break your arm" or "you'll have
someones eye out". Everyone says it but no one actually has.

Although my friend Douglas from Eastgate Primary, Lincoln got a lolly
stick jammed in his eye. But it didn't have it out.

Good job I didn't use the running with a stick comparison.

More because Raleigh couldn't build one for a good enough price that
would work with modern gear mechanisms. Gripshifts cost pennies.

Blimey, there's me thinking a pressed steel lever with a rudimentary
friction ratchet attached to a cable would be the cheapest design
    solution.

The new chopper still has the Sturmey Archer gearbox which dates from
1902, not exactly cutting edge ...

There sacrifices and there *are* sacrifices. It's tough being a bird.

My niece lost 90% of the sight in her right eye when hit by a ball
bearing fired from a catapult. I don't know if that counts.

Oh, and my cousin shoved a pencil through his cheek, as he got hit on
the back of the head whilst sitting with it in his mouth.

  10. But considerably easier to pronounce and use
in the real world than a derailleur. :)

But they would have to set up a complete prodution system to make it. It
would be far cheaper to use an already manufactured component.
Actually they are a very compact and reliable system. ISTR they did also
made a 5 speed version at one time as well.

I thought chicks digs cars was an untruth but they do appreciate it if you
can fart the whole of the national anthem without shitting yourself!
