Well after being told yesterday that my post is being made redundant, then
having to finish off my shift and struggle to be polite to patients /
relatives etc, the girls let me go home 20 minutes early.

Just left the hospital, popped into 4th and a guy in a civic from a side
road doesnt see me and I swerve into the oncoming side to avoid, dont quite
make it and I actually hear myself say "Not again!"

Anyway, up and over his bonnet, into the air, do a full flip and land, then
bounce in middle of road. Banged my head hard and my back, especially my
    left hip.

After a second I remember im in the middle of the road and its dark, so i
roll to the gutter out of the way of oncoming traffic and thankfully some
locals stopped and did the honourable thing and called ambulance and police
etc. Made sure someone got the feckers reg number in case he had ideas of
    leggin it too.

So, upshot is Ive nothing broken this time just some soft tissue damage but
hurts like hell! Still the codeines working wonders, never had it before :)
And ill be needing a new helmet and I've yet to see the scooter :-(

It's got to be the shit brakes on scooters that's causing you to have all
    these prangs.

Oh **** - definitely one of 'those' days.
This at least is good news.
    Don't worry, it's only a scooter.

Could blame the brakes on the first one i guess but not this one, front
hydraulics bloody good and the rears quite good.

Look on the bright side, you'll have plenty of spare time to repair it.

    GWS, you clumsy ****.

Wot WUN said. And, as a bonus, I think this should land you the FBOTY
award which you can kill some time polishing.

I'm for it, it seems convincing and a deserving case, even if it is a
scooter(ist). You're in charge of the award though, so it has to be
    your decision.

I think you'll find that you handed it to me on 1st Jan '06.
In the tradition you started last year it appears that the last winner
gets to award it to the preferred unlucky person.

So Paul gets it this year and also gets to hand it out next year if
    he's still around.

Awww, fark, on both counts. Still, look at what you can spend the
compensation on. GWS that small-wheeled parka-targeted Paddie.

    You should have ...

Sat on your bike for several minutes , taking deep breaths and asking
yourself "Am I in fit state of mind to risk my life and limbs on a two
    wheeled monstrosity".

Clearly in this case you should have gone straight to the local boozer
and poured yourself home on some other form of transport.

Good news is you can take as long as you like to mend now. Do you think
your co-workers will believe you when you phone in sick for the next few
    weeks ?

Of course you do have my sincerest sympathy and on the bike and body
    side GWS.
