My BiL's little incident today...

My BiL told me about a little incident he had today.
He was filtering on his gixer 750 past a line of slow-moving cars in a 30
    zone - probably doing 35mph.
A car in this line appeared to take exception to him passing and swerved
into his path causing him to swing out into what little oncoming traffic
    there was.
BiL swivels round and gives the driver the finger.
Unfortunately the driver is a police officer in an unmarked car and on come
the flashing blue lights hidden behind the grille and it's time to pull over
    for a chat.

Lots of cliched plod expressions[1], arm-waving, name-calling & threats of
court appearances later and, unbelievably, my BiL departs with just a
    producer!!

He's always been a jammy cnut.

[1] "You lot think you own the road!" / "Oh, bit of an expert on law are
    we?"[2]
[2] BiL had just told him he couldn't prove BiL was speeding [3] and told
Plod his wife was a solicitor [4]
[3] I'm surprised Plod wore this because he had a colleague in the car -
thought the word of 2 cops was as much evidence as was needed. No?
    [4] This isn't true.

    ROTFL

He should have demanded the tape from the car to show their superiors how
piss poor their road positioning skills are!

Well, what *could* they have done him for? From your description, he
didn't do anything illegal, unless giving other drivers the bird is an
    offence these days?

I got caught speeding on Gower St yesterday.

    "Err.. where?", says I.

"Do you know that one pedestrian is killed or seriously injured in
    Camden every day?" he says.

"That'll stop when the tourists go home" says I.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, he gave me a "speed kills" leaflet
and a warning not to do it again; just before I told him him and his
mate I'd be getting on the radio to tell my work chums that they were
there. Funny as it seems, he found this rather amusing and I went away
with a smile on my face.

  5. If the officer intentionally caused him to swerve into oncoming traffic I'd
have thought he'd be in more trouble than your BiL.

I totally agree - and I think that's largely why the copper didn't pursue
    his threats.

I know of two riders here that have been ticketed for "Improper hand
signal" when giving CHP officers the bird. I don't know the outcome of
    the court cases.

I got pulled over in manchester for filtering up to a set of lights,
even though I was going at walking pace and pulling into gaps so as I
wouldn't obstruct oncoming traffic. Copper said it was because I was
crossing into the other lane (two lane road, two way traffic) that he'd
stopped me. I was sent on with nothing more after a brief talking to,
which basically put me back where I would've been had I not filtered.

As the loud can was on and the surrounding buildings were rather close
and tall I decided not to argue, but I was sure I wasn't doing anything
wrong. I'd love to know for sure though.

When I went out with the Met, we were gently chastised for not filtering.

I wasn't meaning to imply that it was (honest) but since you know of the

I'd love to fly the bird at those two. The series is supposedly being
resurrected and will be filmed in my area. Cunts.
