You should be able to get pattern blinkers for a CB500 fairly easily,
I'd have thought - probably under 20 quid, at a guess.

Or get something that isn't pattern or OE - should be able to get
something suitable for under a tenner.

No, you must have all four working on your machine.

If you like I can point you in the direction to get replacements cheaply
and maybe see if we can get some S/H clocks.

I'll come over and fit them if you like. Can't do it for a few days as
    I'm a bit crock ATM.

    Be happy to help.

Nick, when you get the estimate off of Cheriton Motorcycles, say ta very
much and walk away, muttering something along the lines of you need time to
raise the money - but make sure you take the estimate with you, so you've
then got a list of what the bits will cost new, if needs be.

See, they'll be looking to charge at least £35 + vat an hour, in terms of
labour, and I reckon, even though the damage to your bike is mostly bolt on
stuff, they'll be looking to get at least 2 hours worth out of you - I might
be wrong, but I'd be surprised if they'd do it for less.

Anyway... your next task, is to buy a copy of Motorcycle News on Wednesday
(as it'll be the most current issue then), and browse through the back at
the breakers section - any that list ER-5s for breaking, give them a ring
and see what bits they've got... if they've got most of the bits on your
list, see if the prices are favourable compared to the estimate prices, and
    if so, order them.

You might have to get the bits from more than one breaker to get the lot...
anything that is made of unobtainium, you'll have to order off a local
    Kawasaki dealers.

Anyway... once you've got all the bits there, give me a shout, and I'll come
down and help you fit them all - nothing on that list is going to be that
much hassle to fit, so it should be a good introduction for you to the
    wonderful world of bike repairs!

Good man. The fuse *may* have blown for a reason[1], so have a sniff
round for damaged wiring. Try wiggling the wiring (with the ignition on)
to see if you can provoke a nice fat blue spark and a satisfying "Pop!".
Better to know now than on the way to work one morning.

[1] Alternatively, you may have frightened it to death...

Do the search on the web for free - avoid all those phone calls and,
better still, avoid having to buy that rag.

Think again, would be my advice.

Have a look at the list up there: there's nothing more complicated
than a bit of unbolting and bolting up again.

Get yourself a Haynes and get on with it: you'll save quite a bit, I
imagine, and will increase your position on the learning and confidence
    curve somewhat.

As others have said: e-bay and breakers for the parts. If you *have*
to buy new, get pattern parts.

Sounds like good news for you :)

Using these web searches has never successfully turned up parts for me
but I'm prepared to give them another go.

That'll be one cylinder head and rocker box for a Dnepr MT9, thanks.

There's probably a reason for that.
There could be a clue in that sentence, I think.

I hadn't had any problems before throwing it at a muddy bend. I can't
really think of why the IGNITION fuse would blow in a crash though. I
don't recall hearing any ignition noises while I was doing my party
trick across the road, but I wasn't really listening for them.

But I'm not sure what KAP did to it when they recovered it. All I
know is that it must have been in 4th or 5th gear when I parted
company with it, but when it was delivered to my driveway it was in
neutral, but the ignition doesn't need to be operated to go that.

If I have any more problems with the ignition then I'll look at more
    carefully.

    With is always better.
I picked up the rest of the clocks off of the side of the A20 - now
all I need is a hacksaw and some gaffer tape.

Gaffer tape is just Duck tape, innit?

That would only be so they could wheel it onto the recovery truck without
    having to lift it.

Lozzo is keeping his eyes open for some clocks, but I still need
    everything else.

    Shopping list:

    Brake lever
Handlebar (Possibly - will investigate - it might be that everything
was just shunted which is why everything has moved a bit)
    Headlight rim
    Right signal
That's okay, I'm in a bit of a state currently (having my dressings
done tomorrow morning!) but I'm off of work all week and I'm very,
very happy at any help that anyone is able to offer.

I'll look out some pattern suppliers and pass them onto you and when
you're ready we'll sort the bike out.

Gas only escapes at traffic lights, and is usually wafted into car
    windows. :)
    Explode arm... ewww.. nice.

    BGN cyborg. heh...
Buba cover, my mum had that, and it helped a lot when she got the
    cancer.
Things like that do make you a little extra carefull for atleast a
while. Shame you didn't manage to throw the bike in a ditch, then you
    would have gotten a DS#[1]. ;)

    [1]This stands for ditch surfer.

  16. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
More than likely in the aftermath. When the bike was being lifted and
dropped off, a wire in the headlight shell or the smashed clocks shorted
    to earth.

Whatever, if it's not blown yet, it's probably ok now.

if / when you've got all the bits needed for it sorted, and we'll take it
    from there.
