My 2-stroke don't like the cold

    No. Shouldn't be necessary. The easiest way is to just click down to
    first and *gently* click up to neutral. This can be harder on some
    bikes, though.

    Symptoms of a dragging clutch, when stationary:

    the gear lever is sticky and needs a lot of presure to select first or
    neutral;

    selecting first from stationary makes a *loud* clunk - slight clunk is
    not unusual if cold;

    the bike pulls forward slightly when in gear with the clutch pulled in
    (especially this symptom);

    the engine idles OK when in neutral but not in gear with the clutch
    pulled in.



    There should be about 1/4" free play at the outer end of the clutch
    lever, which equates to a couple of mm at the root where the cable
    attaches.

    Some of these bikes also have a screw adjuster at the botton of the
    cable - I believe that it's accessed by removing the alternator cover
    on the LHS of the engine, but these small Yamaha motors may vary.
