Too far away, but looks pretty clean (as in together). Seized engines
are an afternoons work and about £50 (inc mains) if the bore isn't too
    badly molished.

If big end gone, that's another £50 ish.

  3. advertised as a 150, mind. how'd you know it's a 250?

looks pretty complete, rather depends why it's seized - if it seized in use
at high revs from lack of oil, then it might be a bit dodgy.

    This is a 125/150

Note engine and sidepanels, later deluxe 125/150's also had twin clocks
    like the (deluxe) 250.

MZ's seize because of ignition timing. Lack of oil causes bearing
failure, which will eventually cause seizure but the engine rattles to a
halt first, but will still turn over.

If the top end's melted/seized/pitted it *will* be over advanced ignition
or hot plug, if the bearings are fubar'd then it's lack of oil.

My money's on ignition or left standing. If the piston isn't melted it
    will run again that day....

Top tip, time your MZ (6v) at 2 to 2.25mm BTDC, *NOT* 3mm.

It is a 250. The 125s and 150s were somewhat different to look at, plus they
    weren't fitted with that 250 engine :)

Getting whole engines, indeed whole bikes to cannablise doesn't bump the
    cost up too much.

You can rebuild MZs fairly cheaply, and if the bore is arsed, hog it out to
300cc. Or fit a Suzuki piston a'la MZ racers as they are available in
    larger oversizes.

Now I want another MZ. Anyone want to swap a GSX400ez for an ETZ 250 or 300?

    Which reminds me.....

Just spotted an ETZ250 selling for £236 in a local-ish dealer.
Description is of a real minter - owned by a complete
nutt^h^h^henthusiast from new, full documentation of everything he's
    ever done to it......

    <must resist>

Thinking about it...... wonder if I could put in some track time on it?

There's also a bloke in Essex who's been advertising a Saxon Tour for
395 in several issues of Classic Bike now. It's still in the current
    one...
