I've still not managed to get into that, though I am rather partial
    to Safe As Milk.

I`ll be the first to admit they`re a bit of an aquired taste. First time I
heard them I was "What the ****?", but after a couple of tries they grew on
me mightity, and the odd tonal scales and fucked up time signatures just fit
perfectly now. They would sound odd done any other way..

Another more acccessable Beefheart album is Bluejeans and Moonbeams. Some
cracking stuff on there that even my friends who dislike Beefheart can
    enjoy.

They're not very gay are they? Where's the lifestyle statement? Surely
there's just a little room for Gloria Gaynor?

...and on Simon's pile of CDs on top of the turntable (it gets messy if I
    include next to or near)

    Joy Division - Still
The Fall - The War Against Intelligence
The Fall - Hip Priests and Kamerads
    Jefferson Airplane - Live 67 - 68 (I have no idea why..)
Interpol - Turn on the Bright lights
    The Beatles - Abbey Road

I wouldn't describe Coldplay as morose. Unchallenging and, frankly, a
    bit dull.

    No they fucking don't.

Anyway it could be said that Coldplay sounds like Radiohead. Which they
    don't.

  13. Yes but I'm 40 so I can't claim to be "trendy".
    Who? <runs away>

  14. Yes I imagine it would be rather "them" to do that. Their website is
    equally bizarre and precise.

Still I can recall happy teenage evenings getting drunk while listening
to trans europe express and other special DJ only 12" tracks of theirs.
Oh how I wish I had inherited that fantastic record collection [1].

[1] belonged to the uncle [2] of my best friend.
[2] who was a part time DJ.

  15. I have plenty of records in my collection which more than make a
    lifestyle statement, sweetie pie.

What I meant is Radiohead have been around longer than Coldplay. They
    don't sound like Coldplay though.
