I think I know what the problem is Paul, your taste in music just isn't
    gay enough.

    Check...Like this one a lot...
Meant to look some of this stuff out following your last recommendation.
    Haven't yet...
    Heh, yeah, check...
Mmm...I'm undecided about Missy. I like some of her stuff but not
enough to go buy an album, IYSWIM?

Now there's a name I've not heard in a while. I saw him live in Hemel
many years ago, about the time he released "Once". Lovely guy, lovely
    music.

Did have a copy of "Once" but it was on tape and it died. May have to
    renew it...

I went to see him around the same time in Liverpool. Lovely concert, lots
of friendly banter between the crowd and the stage, and to top it off a half
dozen or so of us fans stayed behind after the concert. What we thought
would be a 10 minute "sign my ticket please Roy.." autograph session turned
into an hour or so long social. Friendly, approachable, chatty and we even
got him to sing McGoohans Blues (Had to prompt him for some of the lyrics
mind you...) for us whilst sharing a joint ot two and a cuppa.

He is such a nice person, and his music is a real bonus, the 2004
tour was so good we went and saw him twice and he just got better and
better. He does however look more fragile these days.

Sadly, at the tender age of nearly 33 I`ve only heard of one of those
artists, and I don`t own anything by them.

Anyway, lined up for my musical delecation lately are such CDs as...

Genesis - Nursery Cryme/Trick of the Tail/Lamb lies down on Broadway
    Current 93 - Island/Soft Black Stars/An Introduction to Suffering
    Joy Division - Substance 1977-1980
Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica/Lick my decals off baby

    One man and his Prog.....

  11. Oh I'm tediously mainstream compared to many on here. I can rarely
pronounce the names of the artists recommended by darsy and simonk,
never mind claim to have heard of them or their music. The "Now that's
what I call darsy Vol 1" CD was still a very pleasant education though.

If you like that, anything by Thievery Corporation is worth a look

You're not meant to be able to pronounce them, the combination of letters
generally represents a sound that's outside the range of normal human
    hearing

    In a similar holding pattern

    DJ Shadow - Entroducing
    Norken - Blue Divide
Orbital - Back to Mine (probably the best compilation in the world ever)
    Kraftwerk - Minimum-Maximum
PJ Harvey - Stories from the City, Sotries from the Sea
Thievery Corporation - The Outernational Sound
Jackson and his Computer Bank - (3 tracks I downloaded from bleep.com and
    stuck on a CD)

    "It's all good"

  16. Help - I actually own 3 of simonk's list and am a huge kraftwerk fan
although I don't have minimum maximum.

dur... "Jackson and his Computer Band"
I'm still gutted that I missed them at the Brixton Academy.

Allegedly, they arrive on-stage 5 minutes before their set is due to start,
motionless. On the stroke of nine, or whenever it is, one of them says "ve
    start now". Excellent.
