DVD. You mean like a record but with moving pictures?
Didn't know it was available. What's on it that the CD doesn't have?

I love the fact that you have a sense of humour. :)

well, I'm not the only person in this thread to have mentioned Kruder
    & Dorfmeister.

This has been hinted at in the 50 films thread - you're just that
little bit too old to "get" modern non-mainstream music; you'd need to
undergo a paradigm shift to get you over your cultural tipping point
    away from "rock".

that's what I was thinking. The give-away is that whilst I'm quite
partial to a spot of Aphex Twin on occasion, his music is nothing much
like the five artists I mentioned, which, though all fairly
distinctive, all fit at least partially into the "chill out"
    meta-genre.

Oh I didn't realise they all had to sound the same.

Well normally I can fake anything but in this case he has managed to
switch me on to some of his stuff. Did you ever get a copy of the
    compilation CD he made?

I'll be doing another one soon if anyone's interested, in full-on
    megamix stylee[1].

[1] I've been playing with something I bought one of my step kids for
    his birthday last month[2]

He's on about the Path Leading to High Ground -> Confield one, I
    imagine.

On the subject of which, where did you find that track by "Ruby"?
Can't find any information on them, let alone any more music.

If you want a slightly different spin on a chilled out compilation,
btw, you could do far worse than Gilles Peterson's BBC Sessions, which
is getting a lot of play on Kenyon FM right now.

    I think so.
I have a couple of Ruby CDs, they're from about 10-12 years ago,
though. Ruby is Lesley Rankine, the ex lead singer of Silverfish, if
that helps. The CD the track on that compilation was from a limited
edition remix album of Ruby's album "Salt Peter". "Salt Peter" + Ruby
gives a few google hits, but Amazon.co.uk doesn't stock it, though
amazon.com have it listed as "new and user from">
    noted, ta.

Presumably that thing outputs to mp3 ? Post a link if you can get it
hosted anywhere and I'd be interested in taking a listen.
heh. And for xmas you'll be getting some uprated motorbike brakes....
    enjoy.

that's exactly what I was thinking of doing. Physical media is a bit
    old hat these days.
you've completely lost me there, I'm afraid.

heh. But seriously, the Hercules thing is a great little toy[1], and
it comes bundled with VirtualDJ3 which is a tidy bit of software -
does beat matching, auto speed adjustments etc., so even a complete
mong can put together seemless mixes.

To think of all the time I used to spend manually counting BPMs and
    pitch-shifting/tempo changing in SoundForge...

[1] if anyone fancies buying one, Amazon do them for 59 quid delivered
    - I posted the etcetera link because there's more info on there
