Right, I've just ordered a copy of Transglobal Underground's
Dream of 100 Nations to replace a knackered of Tape copy of
it I've worn out. Anyone got any other more recent musical
recomendations along similar lines I should check out?

Done the banco de gaia/Deep forest/single gun theory stuff.
I was just wondering if there was anything else out there
I should be checking out too?

don't know about similar lines, but I can highly recommend Venetian
Snares' "Higgins Ultra Low Track Glue Funk Hits 1972-2006".

    Slightly off track but close:

Arabesque - compilation from Momo restaurant IIRC. Usually appears at
    HMV in the sales.

Buddha Bar compilations if you're feeling rich [1] [2]

    [1] Import only
    [2] Unless you have a chum with a copy and a burner[3]
[3] For evaluation purposes only of course

  5. You might like Mezquita (Requerdos de mi Terra)
or World Trade (Word Trade and Euphoria) - both
reasonably similar to Banco de Gaia..

  6. Not quite what you wanted to know, but if you ever get a chance to see
    Banco live, do it.

Not exactly similar, but have you tried VNV Nation and/or Apoptygma
Berserk (good album "welcome to earth"? Might be a bit out of your taste
league, but give it a go. Likewise Ozric Tentacles (seek out album
    "pungent effluent").

    1995, man.

Try one of these, and get with the 21st fucking century:

Kid 606 - "The Action Packed Mentallist Brings You the Fucking Jams"

    Squarepusher - "Ultravisitor"

Venetian Snares - "Winter in the Belly of a Snake"

Bogdan Raczynski - "Renegade Platinum Mega Dance Attack Party: Don The
    Plates"

Chris Clark - "Empty the Bones of You"

I'd be very surprised if you couldn't get at least the Squarepusher
and the Chris Clark in any HMV, and any of the larger Virgin
Megastores might have all of the above except the Venetian Snares
('cos it's an import). Amazon has it[1], and the rest, obviously.

I was simply indulging in a bit of reverie 's all.
    Cool, like.
I've got some Squarepusher (Hard normal daddy), 's OK but
it does somewhat remind me of elevator music on steroids
for speed freaks. Every time I listen to it I can imagine
Spud in a lift on the way to that interview in Trainspotting.

As for Venetian Snares... more of the same really. Though
anyone that can get away with track names like, "A giant
alien force more violent and sick than you can imagine",
    obviously can't be all bad.
Again I'll check these two out. Ta muchly.

I'm pretty sure that I've still got a copy of Flying Teapot by Gong as it
happens... weird shit... what was I thinking of? Oh, that's right, nothing

    fair enough.
it's not so much like nothing you've ever heard, it's more like
everything you've ever heard bundled into the washing machine, rinsed
    and spun at 1200rpm.
this new album's nothing like that. It's sort of jazz-tastic, mate -
loads of acoustic guitar and bass, plus d'n'b skittering beats. But
much better than that description makes it sound.
Venetian Snares are billed as "like Squarepusher++", but in actuality,
it's completely different - like normal music sawn into small pieces
and glued back together by a blind, deaf crazy person.
both very good, not the same though. The Raczynski, as with all his
stuff, is kind of a piss-take of itself. Sort of 300bpm ambient
    cheesecore jungle-disco.
