Come on then chaps - who do the FOAK recommend for multibike policies?

This is the first time I've done a renewal for a multibike and, frankly,
it's all a bit of a pain in the arse.

H&R (who I've been with for years) have quoted me £430 for the RSV and
another £85 to add the VFR.

Auntie Carol comes in at about the same price, but chucks in breakdown and
    legal cover.

Bikesure are about 60 quid cheaper and throw in much the same extras.

The thing is that my cheapest quote for the RSV by itself is £210, which
makes me think that, frankly, all of the above are taking the piss a bit.
So, who else is worth talking to?

Single bike policies, with the VFR on an Auntie classic policy?

Ooo, never thought of that. Wouldn't a classic policy have a limited
mileage, though? The VFR is my main bike, in terms of mileage (because I
start to cry[1] after about 10 miles on the prilly.

[1] For 2 reasons, at least.

  4. This has been discussed on the beardy group: Since Groupama took over
Carole Nash, they've set the cut-off date for classics at 1982 (possibly
to allow for a 25 year-old rolling limit).

I've just had to insure my 1985 CB125RS on my modern policy (luckily for
    no extra premium).

It looks like existing business for bikes over 15 but less than 25 years
old is still taken as classic, but new business certainly isn't.

    lie

You'll only insure the POS TP anyway, so an assessor is never going to look
    at it

  9. Well, that seems to be what's happening anyway, whatever the website
says, and it reflects my own experience of last week.

Look at the 'Auntie Carole redefines classic bike age' thread on ukrmc.

  11. Ah, right. Slightly different policy, though.

    So you can't insure (say) a 20 year-old GPZ900R on a classic policy, but
you can on a 'modern classic' policy. I was trying to add my 125 to my
classic policy, which just had the 400 Four on it (31 years old and
    counting).

I've just switched to Auntie Carol. My cheapest quote was around ?212
with H&R (142 online quote but then I rang to tell them about the
modifications), but add on two lots of European breakdown cover & it
came to a few quid less than Auntie, so she got the business to save
    hassle.

Apparently not - when I did I got told they were all busy and somebody would
call me back, which they didn't bother doing. I went through the on-line
quote and they came back with £482 for the prilly by itself.

I'm surprised; we've always found them to be very helpful in the past.

Mind, I think they were taken over by one of the bigger brokers,
sometime in the last year; perhaps the change is starting to show.
