Well yes. Ones instinct for ones loved ones is extremely strong, but
that doesn't make it necessarily right. If you asked your raped wife
or daughter whether she'd prefer you to be around, or hanged/in prison
for exacting revenge, I *think* most women would prefer the former.

Part of the point of the criminal justice system is to take personal
retribution out of the process.
