MS Trailer, crap!

  1. I wouldn't have a motorBike trailer, if you could buy em' at Wally
    World, and get a big ol' rebate.....These folks that run down the road,
    on a motorcycle, and be pulling a trailer, looks so silly. ...crap...

    For a coupla ol' dinosaurs like you and me, we wouldn't be caught dead
    pulling one of those things.. There are some folks though, that spend a load
    of bucks, so they can haul all their "stuff"..

    My own theory is, if I need all those wheels, I need to be in a pickup.. If
    it don't fit on the motorcycle, I don't need it.. either for a day run or a
    month long trip.. It'll either ride on the bike or it won't be going...
    LMAO... Shoot, pard..

    Reminds me of a post I did a couple of years ago...

    In the old days, a bunch would gather for a run.. We'd just hit whatever
    roads looked interesting.. When we got hungry, we'd park under a tree and
    break out some sardines and crackers.. A lukewarm beer to wash it down and
    we'd be good to go.. When we got tired we'd throw a sleeping bag alongside
    the bike and take a little nap.. then, run again.. Restrooms were a fence
    or bush and then run some more.. All was good and everyone came back tired
    and happy ..

    Then one of the guys decided to take his squeeze with him.. No more sardines
    and crackers, no more bushes and fences and sleeping on the ground was
    history..

    It became a restaurant for food, a restroom in a truck stop or gas station
    (even some of the old stations were to primitive) .. Don't even think about
    sleeping next to a motorcycle.. Motels .. better be at least a Holiday Inn,
    were the places to spend the night..

    Some of these gals we see two up and riding their own, ride 'em like they
    just stole 'em, but I never seen one of them that could irrigate a bush on
    the other side of a four foot hogwire fence.. Aw well.. we just got weak,
    didn't we, guys ? <chuckle> or old..

    Anyway .. the ride is what it's all about.. Those beds in the motel sure
    feel good after a long hard day.. The chicken fried steak kinda keeps the
    stomach from growlin' and the ladies do make for good cuddlin' while you are
    runnin' hard to keep up..

    I guess we have to "give up somethin" to "get somethin", don't we ? Who
    knows ?

    Not just a motorcycle "trip"...I was pulling out of the Honda dealer the
    other day trying to find an air filter when I saw this rig pulling in. It
    was the snazziest Gold Wing pulling a big 'ole trailer behind him. I
    hollared "must suck to be as a foot as you are there" at him and he didn't
    hear me. I said it again and he almost dropped the bike trying to listen to
    what I was saying. I finally realized that he had some CB thing inside his
    helmet for talking.

    Crap, that's not even close to the meaning of "motorcycling" anymore.

    People ask me about putting one of those intercoms on my bike and in my
    helmet, and I just tell them that if I can't say it with hollaring, it
    doesn't need to be said. I get on my motorcycle to get away from people, not
    to have a big confab with them.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~yeah buddy, that is about how we did it. We all ways
    had a bedroll, and even a one man pupTent. We've pitched that lil' ol
    tent, as late as 2am in the morning. One time on top of Wilamena, and
    had trouble driving the plastic stakes, in them there rocks..hehe......I
    can see a ''yuppy' and his ''wuppy'' enjoying a trailer. Dern, some of
    them trailers cost...actually more than my motorBike...maybe that's why
    I am agin' it...retum?
    Yep... we did it to ourselves.. LOL.. Let that be a lesson to us all. Now ..
    we gotta have those fancy gadgets that tell us where we are, and where we
    want to be.. Stereos and two ways.. cell phones, etc. Can't leave home
    without them.. <chuckle> The squeeze who can't go, wants you to call her
    every time you stop, so she can be sure that you aren't having much fun
    without her.. Phew.. what's that all about ? Some of my pards call home
    every two hours.. or call .. somewhere..
    I was talking to Bill the other day, or rather "listening" since most talk
    with Bill is lopsided (but entertainingly so), and he mentioned he made a
    run through Sweetwater some time earlier.
    That reference reminded me of my first bike adventure. I was 19 and riding
    rice, but I took that Kaw over some roads that seldom ever see a car, much
    less a bike.
    I was making my way west, no destination in mind. I got to Sweetwater and
    camped out sleeping next to the bike, rolled up in a cheap plastic tarp. It
    rained all night but that thing kept me dry. I was amazed. I got up the next
    day and rode around the panhandle. Got to Palo Duro and spent the next night
    in a hollow in the cliff wall somewhere.
    Good times, good times.
    about how enjoyable the uncomfortable-ness was actually fun!!
