The raids were conducted in the main by NSW and Victorian Police, both
States with Labor Governments, are they too under the direct control of John
    Howard?

Me, two, but I'd be a bit more impressed if he'd given a timeframe of,
say, five years, which is about when we'll start seeing the long-term
effects of the changes start coming through.

It took until the mid-90's for the Hawke-Keating reforms to work
themselves out into a sound basis for the Australian economy.

The stable interest rates we enjoy now I'm happy to credit to Howard and
Costello cutting the Reserve Bank free of government control in 1996.

Conversely, the shambles in which the health, education and transport
systems nation-wide find themselves can be traced back to the hatchet
Costello took to federal funding of these areas in the early years of
    the present government.

The same will happen with these IR changes. The sky won't fall in in the
next year or two; it'll fall in when the next economic downturn comes.

You're talking to the bloke who can't ride down to the GP without
dressing up in an orange jumpsuit and bib when he gets there, John.

I don't do "holiday" unless it's prepended with "working"...

In 5 years I will be retired living in a small village in the mountains of
    Colombia.

The surveillance would've been primarily an ASIO/AFP gig... the local
police would've been mostly muscle for the raids themselves, without any
    say in the timing.

Both the NSW and Victorian governments have significant Lora Norder
barrows to push for their constituents, and neither of them is
particularly known for giving much of a shit about personal freedoms.

You really need to get your head around this, John; I consider John
Howard and Bob Carr to have a lot more in common than their bald melons
and their glasses... even Bob Brown has his staffers write letters to
newspapers without disclosing who they are.
    They.
    Are.
    All.
    Fucked.

All politicians have staffers write letters to the editor, I am just
surprised that Bob Browns Staffers can write.

Oh well I s'pose we can all thank your hero for this, given that jury
duty leave is one of the "perks" that his IR laws will abolish...

I wonder if any of the perks that his IR laws are affecting relate to
the use of government bizjets to commute from Sydney to Canberra...

We do too. But we're s'posed to give the money that we get for JD back
to the company if said days fall on rostered days. Apparently no-one
does. When I got called up it was during my days off and we were in the
middle of getting ready for the daughter's 21st.

Thankfully I was rejected. Being the only juror-select wearing a suit
    may have helped.

    WTF?
    Harsh week?
    Your name NEV?
I have made **** all mention of harsh week why don't you get your facts
straight first before you play semantics.
Seriously Hammo I hope you don't get off with your little games because
frankly it is starting to wear thin.
As for being TOLD If you can't see the method to my madness then stfu
    and leave me alone.
btw don't bother asking for stuff and any mac help in future if all you
will do later is kick a person as a thank you.
If you're trying to be humorous then I fail to see the humour in some of
    your posts.
