To be honest, I haven't asked him, but he's been praying there a long
time, and I'd be rather suprised if he were to align himself with the
    radicals.

Is that like the law of conservation of mass?

Since the earth and its atmosphere are not exactly a closed system, how
does the law of conservation of mass apply in this case?

Doesn't mean I don't partake in any industrial activities though.
I used to be a member of the AEU but they have gotten so far in bed with
the government that some of our rights have been eroded even under a
    labor government.
I am seriousl consider rejoining after what this lying rat bastard
weasel of a prime minister has presented.
Maybe its awakeup call to the unions to get off their soft flabby arses
and actually become a touch more proactive. (though the ad campaign has
been a good start more is needed)

Which proves once again Moike's point that I'm wasting my breath.

I'm not punishing anyone. You reap what you sow. The Australian public
have sent out a clear message about the values that they are voting for,
I've listened to the message from the people:

It's all about looking after number 1.

OK, if that's the message I'll do just that.

    JL
Australia is on track to becoming a good place to retire to (provided
you're Anglo Saxon), by the time the IR law "reforms" are finished I
should be able to retire and purchase some slaves to look after me :)

well I must say GS its nice to see someone who actually understand what
happens when a gov find reasons !.
to take away the powers of the general public..
Why cant other people out there see all the laws little Johnny is passing
is all eroding our sival rights and we are now moving into another faze of
    being grossly over regulated ..
I thought communism was bad this sudo democracy is taking away most your
democratic rights and powers to have some control over ones own life or
    influence the world around them..
Most people seem to be too blind to even see it coming WTF ?????.

year dead for tax purposes first.

Depends on your electorate doesn't it ? As you well know.

For instance in Howard's electorate, there was a significant swing away
from him (at a time when the country swung towards him) - much of it due
to the fact that John Valder (ex Liberal) stood against him. Many other
electorates had independents of Liberal party origins standing against
their former party and FOR the values the party used to hold.
That the economy isn't the *only* thing that matters (and I'm an
economist and economic dry fercrissakes) that social cohesion,
inclusiveness and personal freedoms matter. That when they blatantly
ignore the populations opinions (ie going into Iraq,) or hide what
they're doing from the population so the people can't debate it (ie
attempting to rush legislation through parliament in secrecy etc) that
    it isn't acceptable.

That social services such as hospitals and schools shouldn't be
    political toys, they're too important.

BOTH Labor in NSW and Libs federally are guilty of the above.

But those are my values, as already expressed, if the majority don't
share them that's fine, as I said in my note to Doug all that time ago :
"Fine, if the only thing that matters is the hip pocket nerve then I'll
play the game and go maximise my earnings, it's not like I owe Australia
anything, user pays ensures I've paid top dollar market price for
    everything I've ever gotten".
I'd agree I'm afraid you are indeed right.
Mmm not so sure, of those who care (the 20%) most I've run into are
fairly active in getting their views known, doesn't seem to make any
difference though, the politicians are comfortably aware they can ignore
anyone who contacts them as their performance won't make a whit of
difference to whether they are re-elected. Or am I being overly cynical.
All I know is my current local member is a bimbo, at least my former
local member (Hockey) had a vague clue.
Possibly, got any suggestions to fix it ? It wouldnt do any good for me
to join either the Labor or the Liberal party - I'd spend my whole time
calling the former bloody idiots, and the latter calling them bloody
hypocrites and insults to Menzies. I doubt that would be helpful.

you'll find that most of ausmoto (with one exception), can see that
these laws are eroding our civil rights

Might be a bit late for that. The IR laws are carefully set up to make
it nigh on impossible for a union to be effective...

That's your point of view. You're entitled to it. My point of view is
that most of us voted Liberal because we thought that overall, the
government was doing a good job and would be more likely to continue
doing a good job than the opposition.

As much as I dislike the IR changes, that by itself was not enough to
    withold my vote.

Remember how you once thought that I had to've had some dark reason to
hide my identity when I started going by the nom de plume of Toosmoky?

The reason was simple. Because I alternate between Outlook Express on
the WinBox and Thunderbird on the LinBox, I often accidently sent a post
meant for the group to the original poster's personal inbox.

By using one sig for email and another for newsgroups, It makes it a
little more obvious when I choose the wrong option.

It's as simple as that. Nothing sinister. Somehow though, you
automatically jumped to the conclusion that there was some dark reason
    behind it.

Lighten up John, and maybe you'll stop seeing rednecks under the bed.
