A House of Reps Joke at the expense of the Senate.

I have spent quite a bit of time in Senators offices and they don't get a
    lot of visitors.

Err, WHAT? I do our comapny's BAS statement every month, and for three other
small companies every quarter. Using MYOB for our acounting system it takes
the computer about 15 seconds to do the calculations and print the form. I
then have to copy the amounts into the ATO's on-line system and transfer the
money by direct deposit or BPay. Altogether maybe five minutes a month. MYOB
can be bought off the shelf for about $400 for the single user system, $999
    for the multi-user.

Sure I still resent it but WTF is the problem? You an accountant or
    something?

This is where I came in.
Maybe they are not quite as esteemed by the community as you or they think.

They get drunk, steal wine and bash women?

They go away on study tours and bonk each other when their spouses are not
    looking?

Here's an analysis by an expert on the subject of anti terrorism law

    http://margokingston.typepad.com/harry_version_2/2005/11/australias_anti.html#more

Christopher Michaelsen joined ANU's Strategic and Defence Studies
Centre in 2003. His PhD thesis studies domestic responses to terrorism
in Germany, Japan and Australia in the framework of civil liberties,
human rights and the rule of law. Chris studied law and international
relations at the University of Munich and graduated in law from the
University of Hamburg. He also holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from the
University of Queensland specialising in international human rights and
    security law.

I don't think that's the case Nev, not unless things have changed fairly
    recently anyway.

And further to that a telling comment by former Liberal party president
    John Valder

    http://margokingston.typepad.com/harry_version_2/2005/11/valder_resumes_.html#more

"What has happened to the Liberal Party principles you and Mr Ruddock
used to espouse so righteously 20 years ago when you were in Opposition
and I was Liberal Party President? Where are those fundamental
principles of personal freedoms and human rights? A "fair go" for
everyone? And, perhaps most seriuosly of all, the presumption of
    innocence until proved guilty?"

Yah... but he was a scientist... and had a logical mind... no one in our
political system is likely to be as open minded (mores the pity).

I can't third it... I must have missed the health care comment... but
yes I respect the fact that you are doing something about your viewpoint
(even if I mostly disagree with it)

    box.
