That depends upon where one is, but more where the case is heard.
    Lawyers tend
forum shop with this sort of stuff.
I don't need clueing up (not about this anyway), but thank you for your
    concerns :)

I have honestly held opinions and the matter is of public interest as it
relates to valid concerns around public organisatio, an organisation
that purports to represent motorcyclists in Victoria.. ie MRA Vic/MRAA.

If people still attempt to 'try it on' then I have the resources to
defend that view in court if needed, and I would do so if required.

e-mail or newsgroup doesn't make much difference *shrug*

It was less of a sucess than it has been in past years, and other toy
runs have started up because of the shortcomings that the central
    Melbourne toy run suffers from.

If (as you say) DC did organise it (and I have no information one way or
the other), then he is responsible for that. If he did not, then he is not.

It's a 'buck stops there' sort of job Nev...

No my good friend, in sunny victoria is where it's the least able to be
    used. Seriously.

Vic is the preferred Aussie forum for defamation cases. There was even
an attempt by one Aussie (i forget who but someone infamous), to get a
case heard in Oz for a publication by a US newspaper because it was
available electronically and hence "could have been read" by people in
Victoria. I think he lost that one on jurisdiction, but the reason he
wanted it heard here was because he'd have won in Vic, but not in the US
(where the truth IS a defence).

I have no stated opinion on DC. :) You, on the other hand, want him
stripped of his life membership of an organisation because he "might"
(or might not) have used "illegal" (or legal) means to get your email
address and send you some emails...

Nonono. Jurisdiction shopping does go on, but the truth can be used as a
    defence in Vic.
    Trust me on this one.

Nope you think DC is a top bloke in fact, I think you want to have his
    children.
You have implied it many a time how much good he has done for the mra.
I have said he has been a destablising influence and the email campaign
    was one example of that.
Others have said why as well so have a go at them will you Nev cos u r
failing to piss me off when i have a giggle at what you come up with.

That sounds awfully close to sedition there John.

If you were to suddenly disappear, would you like me to look after your
    bikes for you?

N.B. not the cars, nor the women, just the bikes.

Nah, He's white. And wears a suit.

Sedtion laws don't apply to white men in suits. Everyone knows that.

It's only for those of Middle Eastern Appearance who dress funny, and
the yellow skinned ones we don't much like (as distinct from the yellow
skinned ones we have a big trade imbalance with).

Your name's John Howard, is it?

I s'pose that this is a good time to revisit that old joke, just in case
there's a miniscule chance that there are people here who've not heard
    it before..

The 3 greatest lies of all time:

    1. Trust me, I'm a doctor
    2. I'm from the government. I'm here to help you.
    3. I promise that I won't come in your mouth...

No, was Yossel "Joe" Gutnick sueing Barron's Magazine/Dow Jones over an
article that appeared online. The article linked the Gutnick name to
alleged tax evasion and money laundering in Israel.
Gutnick made a successful argument that an online article is "published"
where it is read, therefore something that is hosted on a US web server
but read online in .au is considered to be "published" in .au. And
defamation laws only require that one person recognise the subject of
the alleged defamatory statements to make it actionable, even if the
other 2^x people walking this earth don't.
    Or something like that.

Have you posted regularly on any of the yahoogroups melb.moto or
Netrider or MRA_Forum? If so, he probably harvested your email from
    there.

I ended up putting his email address in my spam filter. He would flood
the forums with multiple repeats of his messages, and have a CC list as
    long as the electoral roll...
