don't really mind. Nearest courts to me is either at Edmonton Green or
    Southgate.

We could alternate, if it's going to be regular/semi-regular.
Mine is Bromfords (which is just round the corner from where we met for
the inaugural BBB run) or Basildon:

should have said, those are both municipal courts in leisure centres.
Edmonton is a better bet, despite being in a less salubrious location,
because a) it has more courts and b) it's got a bar.

I've not actually played there, but I'll be there for swimming on
Saturday morning, and I'll ask what's involved (i.e. whether you can
book freestyle or need to be a nominal member of the centre).

Cool. When you find out, email me, and then put a cryptic "paging
blaney" post here, so everyone thinks we're talking about something top
    secret and cool.

will do. I was just looking on streetmap to see if there'd be
somewhere mid-way between us, but unfortunately that would be
    Romford...

  9. More a post to rile Cane, TBH. And it worked )

Although, having said that, I am genuinely interested in other
peoples' experience of having a rapidly-changing body shape. IME it's
usually women (during and then after pregnancy) that experience it,
rather than men. My friends have expressed views as diverse as "I hate
being fat" to "I love it, it's an excuse not to stay slim".

Blokes, well, the weight generally goes on or comes off too slowly to
notice such a difference, or at least such a rapid change.

I remember that I quite enjoyed it and that what I lacked in skill I made up
for in enthusiasm.... much to the entertainment of my opponent.
