    Happy days.
Recommendation for the Motrax solid state load independent flasher unit.
Two wires, piece of piss to install, moulded into a decent bracket.
Indicators flash at a nice steady rate regardless of bulb sizes or
LED/filament. Maintains it's rate if front or rear units go out.
    Excellent!

No hazard function and you will need to actually check all front/rear
    units are working occasionally.

    Earth

Two diodes and a piezo-bleeper to earth. Add series resistor if
    too loud.

So does my K5 gixxer 600. I had a mild heart-attack off the first time
it went off since I'd done around 15 miles and was just pulling onto a
roundabout infront of traffic, all of a sudden - BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP...
oh crap... I wonder if that's an oil warning or engine warning or
what... I hope I make it to the other side of this roundabout.

Sometimes it's handy, mostly it just annoys me when I'm waiting for
lights to change / queueing in traffic. There doesn't appear to be a
switch to turn it off (nor the lights). If anyone knows how to turn it
    off then that'd be great.

Moronic I may be but I fitted one to the R80, inside the speedo shell,
as the tally light coincides with the bottom edge of my helmet in normal
    riding, and it's a nuisance.

Maplins FL40T, plus a couple of diodes. It's also good for getting the
attention of pedestrians about to step off the kerb, blondes included.

It works a treat and it's just loud enough to annoy me and wake up cars
next to me in lines of traffic (which is helpful). I made a few holes in
the shell, but that probably wasn't necessary, and ISTR 'adapting' the
buzzer to make it fit better (it's glued in).

    YMMV, but I like it.

  9. How'd you get it to fit?

    "Dimensions:23 x 165 x 155mm deep.
    Fixing centres:275mm x 8BA
    Overall length:335mm."

Tesco's carrier bag down one side of the tank. Flaps around a bit if I
do more than 18mph, but the banging noise also deters wayward
pedestrians so I suppose it's a good thing.

    Maplins are decimally-challenged it seems.
I love the carefully consistent "8BA" too.

Have a spare on the shelf in the workshop. As measured:

    32.8mm x 17mm x 15.7mm
    Centres: 27.2mm
Body length 22.7mm (if you ignore the fixing flanges).

But they have a point about the "8BA" holes in that 2mm would be tight.
It would probably Araldite on the back of the flasher unit, but it would
be rather exposed there (which is why I put it in the cluster), as it's
only a solenoid buzzer and not waterproof.

    Regards,

    Simonm.

  13. Duff, imo. The spastic flickering (or staying on) of the standard unit
is a useful telltale if a bulb is bust.

I only see the point of the Motrax unit if it's for a trailer extra
    indicator.

  14. Don't even need that if the flasher unit is simply make/thermal/break in
the live to the bulb via the RH/LH switch. Tee in the buzzer between the
fl. unit and the bar switch.

A friend fitted one to his R80/7 once, and ripped it out three days later
because it was so fucking annoying.
