Came back up from Silverstone today using the M1, M6, M62 to Liverpool
as you do, however I have noticed that a lot of drivers now just sit in
the fast lane regardess of what is going on around them - is this a new
thing cos I dont remember it being so bad the last time I was on the
    mainland riding.

Whats the law on "lane splitting" if thats the right term? I got so fed
up that I simply dropped into the middle lane, got round the two or
three cars in the way and then swung back into the fast?

Managed an average[1] of 80MPH for the entire motorway doing this. But
what would plad have had to say if spotted doing it?

I was just about to post this, it's getting fucking stupid, how many times i
had to undertake cos the cunts just wont move, even if there's no other
    traffic at all.

Iv never noticed it in the past, but it was obvious that most cage
drivers simply just sit there and never move.

Theres a lot of drivers that still think its OK to use mobile phones on
the m/way as well I see.

It's ten times worse now than even two years ago, makes all motorways single
carriage roads more or less now, the cunts.

Do you expect them to pull off the motorway to make a phone call?
Making a phone call is no worse than averaging 80mph so just ignore it
    and drive home.

Id expect them to not use the phone at all.

Riding at a decent rate with full concentration of my surroundings and
limits is no where near as bad.

It doesnt bother me, it was simply an observation.

    I wouldn't.
Hey, I'm not saying averaging 80mph is a crime but you need to be
doing over 90mph for large chunks of the journey to hit that average.
I usually hit the horn as I drive past people on the phone but that's
only so I can see if I can disturb them to a point where I can cause
an accident and block the motorway behind me.

Just approach very quickly with thumb on horn and flashing the main
beam in a regular on-off-on-off timed manner. They'll think you're plod
and **** off out of your way very sharpish. It works on any bike.

You have the option to flick the Vees as you pass

The Guzzi has no screen, so anything up to about 85 odd is OK, but
beyond that and it gets a little buffetty - the bike has yet to have
its 1st service so kept the revs to below 5k, 3,500 in top is 70MPH.

Cant do that on the Guzzi, as the flasher and the horn are both "thumb
    operated"

I emplyed the "hard stare" whilst going past however.

You fucking gurl. At least you can hide your knees behind the cylinder
heads (if it's a proper Guzzi).

You should try altering your riding position: the Bandit has no screen,
and dirty great wide, high Renthal bars and that means there's just
nowhere to hide at all from the windblast. Ton is easy, just resting
on the breeze - then every five mph it gets harder, until by about 120
it feels like your head's going to part company.

However, with balls of feet on pegs, arse right back on the seat and
pushing torso forward and down, all the weight comes off the bars
(which is just as well, 'cos when you're pushing on and hanging off the
bars every ripple feels like it's going to turn into a slapper) you can
tuck down into the tank and push hard into the wind ... and make
serious progress. Hard on the neck muscles, mind - and I must have
been hanging off the bars like a gurl tonight, 'cos I've got a line of
broken blood vessels along the roots of my fingers on my right hand and
I've lost a few layers of skin off the heel of that hand too.

  15. 1 cruising lane and 2 overtaking lanes. The government is to blame for
labelling the outside overtaking lane "The fast lane" when motorways
    first opened.
