    Hi

This is my first post to the forum, it took me a while to find you! I
hope that this post is an appropriate use of the forum.
    Apologies if not!

I am a "mature" student at St. George's Hospital Medical School here
in London. As part of my medical degree I am doing a project on
motorcycle crashes. I am a rider myself and am interested in anything
that increases the dialogue between medics and riders (I think that
both groups can only benefit from this).

If you have ever had a crash and would like to take part, I'd really
appreciate it of you could spend a few minutes filling in the survey
    at the following link:

    http://www.sghms.ac.uk:8080/survey/entry.jsp?id=1082804839840

It asks about you, your bike, your kit and details of the accident and
medical attention recieved. You dont have to have been injured to take
part! If you didn't receive any injuries in your crash I would still
    like to hear from you!

I am posting this on UK forums that I'm affiliated to but I am very
interested in the global picture too. I know that riding in the UK and
Europe/US/Aus/NZ is probably very different and that the medical
services are completely different and I'm hoping to explore this in
the project, so non-UK responders are welcome! I do particularly want
to get as many UK repsondants as possible though.

If you know of anyone else who may be interested in taking part,
please pass the web address along.

I'll be writing up and presenting the results here at George's, and
possibly publishing them in medical journals. At no point does the
survey request your contact details and the results are completely
anonymous. If people are interested I could also post the results
    here.

I am not in anyway affiliated to any motorcycle or equipment
    manufacturers (I wish!)

Again, many apologies if this is not the appropriate forum for this
    post.

    Cheers

    Mattrocket

No-one on this forum ever crashes their bike. They might part company
from it at various speeds though.

  4. My missus works there, and she's just been knocked off her bike. Does
    that help?

  6. 10 mph (est.) impact. very slight damage to me (slightly painful wrist for
a couple of days) and none evident on the bike.

Bloody vans, stopping on roundabouts. I dunno, when I were a lad, van
    drivers din't stop fer anything.

Thus spake mattrocket unto the assembled multitudes:
I did early this year. A real "senior moment". Luckily early in the
morning and no-one saw me. Stopped the Trident, started to get off it,
then (too late) realised I hadn't put the side stand down yet, bike keeled
over (and so did I trying to stop it), both of us ending up in an ungainly
heap on the ground, cracked indicator lens and body, bent and scratched
clutch lever, strained leg muscle. Poo.

I suspect this isn't what you're looking for, though :)

Ah. Not really. You see this whole thing was just a thinly disguised
attempt to get into The Doctor's knickers. It (probably) won't work now
    you've seen it...

When we were younger a friend of mine was on his
bike and showing off to a group of teenagers. After
strutting his stuff for a while he rode up along side of
me as I walked along the pavement. We both stopped
to talk and he put his foot down. Unbeknown to either
of us someone had remove the grating from the drain
in the gutter. My mates leg went straight down the hole.
He was more-bothered about looking un-cool infront of
the group he had just been showing off to, so he picked
himself and his bike up . He then nonchalantly rode off
with blood dripping from his leg.

It's funny because it's true, and it's even funnier because of who said

Well, I'm prepared to tolerate other UKRM[C]'ers in the same hotel. But
I do like my own room to retreat to.

    My last crash was
When stopping outside my garage (on a slight camber)
my mobile phone rang and as i struggled with gloves on
(stupid) I missjudged the slope and gently and
gracefully toppled over with bike on right leg phone in gutter and
    embarassment on my face!
My son who had been phoneing me from the house 10 yds away expressed
surprise when I told him to b---- off
