Motorcycle stunts

  1. Hello all,

I'm new to the gorup and the world of dare I say it scooters and
    motorcycles.

Well having just turned 21 and needing some form of quick and easy transport
I decided to buy myself a Piaggio zip 125 cc very nice scooter indeed being
my first scooter I am very impressed. I have passed my CBT and hope to get
my theory and practical test out of the way and get rid of these L plates
    :) fingers crossed sometime soon.

Anyway before I ramble on and on like i'm doing now, I at the traffic lights
on my way home form work last night another rider pulls along side me
another piaggio a typhoon from what I saw whilst eating his dust. Well
basically he took off like a bat .... he did a "wheelie" on his scooter and
I was sitting there being tootted at starring at him like it was fireworks
night and was wondering how the flying monkeys did he manage to do that on a
scooter and thought you folks in the know would know.

Blimey the last time I did a wheelie was on my old bmx and was 13

I wouldn't mind trying to do it this weekend when I will be on some open
private grounds so the only injury will be me breaking my neck.

Anyways just thought I'd ask away and introduce myself and will hope to join
you all on a more powerfull bike soon I just wanted to get used to riding
one for maybe a year and then have a go at the dsa.

    Cheers

You could always push it off a cliff that would be a good stunt!!

    Well hello right back atcha.
    Where exactly is The Gorup?
Also, scooters are not exactly "well thought of" in these parts, generally,
so any advice which involves matches or cliffs should be carefully
    considered before trying.
Just interested, what was you motivation towards a scooter, rather than a
    geared 125 motorcycle?
Possibly he had only just picked it up from the scooter shop, and opened the
throttle a bit too quick. Was this stunt accomapnied by a wailing
"ooohhhhhssshhhiittttt" from the chap, or a long brown stain up the tarmac?

I don't think having a go at the DSA will do any good, they'll only tell you
to take your test. You could try DAS though, if you are after a fast track
    way of getting a licence.

  5. Hi there Oldbloke
Point taken, I had a look in the moped \ scooters groups and well you folks
seem to be in the know about eveything motorcycle wise. Well I thought it
would be nice to introduce myself rather than lurking and as I havn't yet
passed my full test (not long to go) actually a little nervous but should be
fine. My only questions will be basic motocycle ones (i'll goggle for
answers first) and well not scooter ones now (
Well I just moved into a new home and there is literally very little public
transport around so I needed a form of transport that wouldn't take too long
ot learn and get me to work and home. Ideally I wanted a geared motorcycle
but time wasn't on my side. Hopefully I will get a chance to take some more
lessons and work towards getting my full license. Also one of my reasons
were well specifically for this scooter was that it is quite cheap to run,
insurance is low and the handling isn't to difficult at the end of the day
maybe they dont have a lot of cred but all I needed was something to cummute
on, seemed pointless spending more on a bike thats over powered expensive
insurance and costly to run. It would be a crime to waste such power going
    ot and from work.

    tarmac?

Nope he just whizzed off like the lone ranger :)
Aplogies for the typo there. I thought about going that route of the DAS but
I thought I'd be better served getting in some riding experience before
rushing to get a full licence, cant do any harm to be a little more
experienced. Well you never know maybe when I feel more
comfortable\confident and can afford to ride a bigger bike I shall be able
    to join into your discussions.

    Cheers

It is inevitable really, that one such as I will come along at a time
    like this.

It is very nice of you to come along and be interested, so don't be
offended, OK? Well, you can go and **** yourself with a mouldy raggy
pineapple for all I care, but one has to observe the polite niceties
    to start with.

Anyway, things are done a certain way here, all for good reasons which
are explained at great length in our lovely FAQ, the posting-oriented
intro to which can be found here:
    http://www.ukrm.net/faq/ukrmnetiquette.html

Have a read, digest and wander through the rest of the FAQ which I'm
sure you'll find of interest, especially being in your current
    position.

You have sussed the posting at the bottom thing, which is lovely. You
do appear to need work on snipping irrelevant text - and especially
signatures which a lot of posters here append to the bottom of their
drivel and which really don't bear repeating - so it would be nice if
you could cut other people's sigs from your replies. That's the last
few lines, everything below (and including) the separator or delimiter
which looks like this:and consists of dashdashspacereturn.

This bit above isn't really needed either as you are not sending
email, see? It is, as I understand it, virtually impossible to send a
virus through a text-based medium like this, so you can happily turn
this off from within AVG (email tab, uncheck the "certify outgoing
    messages" box.

Apart from all that, welcome to the dark side (well, sort of dirty
grey side, what with you being a scooter boy an' all - but we put up
with Donegal Paul the Lambretta Lad for long enough until he saw the
light)) you plug on, keep up around here, and then go and do your
Direct Access when you've learned a bit more, OK?

ITYF that we know everything about *everything* round here ;)

BTW I suggest a quick peruse of the FAQ if no one else has already, and
    snip sigs.

    Welcome
