Motorcycle rentals in Frankfurt?

  1. It isn't ours, it mostly belongs to foreigners.

2 thousand years we have spent liberating gert great chunks of it from a
seemingly never ending stream of oppressive masters and every single
fucking time we gave the piles of rubble left in our passing back to the
natives. That is no way to run an Empire.

    So I understand.

The real reason we're going there is that I wanted to do a run through
the Alps from Malcesine to Germany via Austria, taking in a couple of
passes, and needed to find a destination that V would take as bait.

She hates my driving. With some justification.

    And the rest.

It's about EUR 1.60 a litre in France, which equates to about USD 8.50
for a small gallon. So an 18 litre tank will set you back the thick end
    of 30 euros.

Germany will be about the same price. Switzerland and Austria slightly
    cheaper, but not a lot.

35 euros will buy a tank and a bit of fuel, enough to do about 200
miles. I'm not sure I'd call that OK when touring.

Oi, watch it. There's 24 miles of water between us and that continent,
    and don't you forget it.

On a 2 week tour I doubt I would average any more than 200-250 miles per
day as I would have a couple of days off the bike and some sightseeing days
where I do less than 100 miles.

OK, that's your fuel. Now where's the 50 euros a day I'm going to need
    for drink?

I'm making the assumption that the OP is not a pisshead criminal and won't
need a slush fund for alcohol and fines.

Turn off data roaming and FUBAR your email collectors. I just got
caught for data while in France, despite not having opened a browser,
for several pounds sterling. Checking for email is the only
    justification I can think of.

You've cut down on the drinking then?

I'm expecting to blow the ¤50 mark at least a couple of times on our
summer tour. An all day session in Gedinne certainly won't be a budget
    day.

Quite a bit of piss taking, eh? :) I used to be a professional
drinker, but now I just drink for effect and it don't take much. One
or two with dinner and it's a great end to the day.

I'm taking either a Macbook and/or iPad along for that stuff. The
iPhone will most likely stay off or in airplane mode. I got tagged in
Canada for some roaming fees. It left a permanent scar that still
    pains me today.

    Disable diversions to your voicemail.
If your phone was last seen in furrin places but is unavailable
you will pay for call forwarding from home to furrin AND back again
to your voicemailbox. Without you knowing and even when the caller
hung up without leaving a message. CUNTS.
That was a nasty OUCH when I was commuting daily to Amsterdam from
Bristol and got a nasty bill after a month of blissfull ignorance.

OK, so you'll be alright for booze money. Now how much are you budgeting
    for the fines?

I'm actually looking to do more touristy stuff via the twisty bits to
see what I'm going past and less miles this go round. I don't think
I'll be over 200 miles per day on average with several days spent with
the son running around the Kaiserslautern area. The wife and I will be
back next spring for another couple weeks, but no bike then. She won't
    ride.

If I just wanted to do miles, I'd stay here in the States where the
speed limits are higher and roads straighter. /ducking I've averaged
500 mile days here for a couple weeks. it gets old and you really
don't see anything. Then again, the roads are flat, boring and you
just go like the wind to get to the end.

The tentative plan is to head east from Kaiserslauten via three and
four number roads to a stop in Munchen.
Day 2 - see Salzburg and Innsbruck, Austria
Day 3 - into Italy via Milano for some good pasta
Day 4 - north to see the Bodensee and then back down to Zurich and Bern
Day 5 - either thru Strasbourg or Nancy and on to Luxembourg just because
Day 6 - up to Bastogne and then back east towards Kaiserslauten

I think this route keeps me in the mountains for a good bit and I need
only rent the bike for one week. This is very flexible and subject to
my whims and weather. It gives me some leeway to veer off the path and
still spend time with my son when I get done playing. The train is
always available for the second week to head north to Berlin or some
other touristy shiite. He has a car I can use too.
