  4. LeMans is a Sports tourer? It can't be, it has a shaft and "less than
modern day power or what ever the quote was.....

  5. No wonder he went all quiet!
Only 'cos I have to take it to someone whose job it is.

No that was the definition of a sports bike you're thinking of, and yes
I think the V11 fits very neatly into sports/tourer.

    JL
(would have one of them too if money and garage space was unlimited)

I suppose it would be too much to expect it to include a '79 R100RS in
the mix, so the FJR wasn't too far off.....

  11. Well, we all know that the R100RS is a Superbike (is that a tourer?)

    Yamaha FJR1300

You scored 5 moxie, 8 zeal, and 0 pomp!
You have the characteristics of a master street rider. On the way to work,
your love for riding sometimes leads you to take the long way. The
50-miles-of-back-roads long way. You live for the perfect road, and plan
    vacations around riding.
You need a bike that can handle your addiction to the twisties as well as
comfortably carry two on a weekend trip through the mountains. Your bike is
the FJR1300. Can I borrow it someday?

Not bad - I ride an 01 FZ1 with touring screen and tank bag fitted, and the
travel panniers are in storage.... But it is black!

  14. I thought I remembered reading a road test on a 250 Hawk when I was stuck
with my CB250E. Maybe it was just an old mag!

  15. Now you've got my trying to imagine a "psy-trance" bike, or a "happy
    hardcore" bike...

The lemans doesn't have the luggage capacity or the ride comfort to
qualify as a tourer, and it lacks the horse power and chain drive of a
sports bike... hence sports/tourer (agreeing with JL)
    :)

Hayabusa; bloated, swoopy and tyring very, very hard to be "out there".
GSX-R1000; fast without being emotionally involving, lamo styling and
colour schemes which make the masses go "Sic!".

    Haven't I been saying for a while now that a dry-clutch eight-valve
Ducati idling in neutral on a racestand would make a killer minimal
    techno track?

Neither for a preference. But if I had to choose between a DT175 and
the 883 it'd be difficult, either way if they were the only two bikes I
was allowed to have one of then they'd be bloody heavily modified
    shortly after getting them.

Given the riding I do, either way it'd be strip every gram I could off
it, upgrade the suspension to the best I could get so it'd make a fun
twisty roads machine. Bore the engine out to eke as much power as I
could. Neither would much resemble what the factory built by the time I
    was

I don't tour (unless you count the 1500 Km I was supposed to do the
weekend before last and will be doing weekend of the 9th, but that's
not touring, that's extended scratching sessions for as long as the
body will put up with it !)
Ewww ! That's just wrong ! If you want to tow a trailer buy a car, or a
    goldwing (same same)

    JL
(unless it's a fridge full of beer ;-)
