Motorcycle parking in Sydney

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Scott Gilbert, Nov 10, 2003.

  1. Seems to me that recently, despite the increasing number of bikes
using existing parking spaces, the number of available spaces in the
CBD has been expanding to meet increased use.

Is this feeling unique to myself or has anyone else noticed? And if
my feeling is, in fact, base in fact, who is responsible (I'd like to
be able to do what I can to support the rare instances of politicians
    doing sensible things)

I thought the opposite was the case, reduced spaces, or spaces disappearing from the inner CBD and some spaces opening up in outer
    CBD areas.

Casual bike parking in the CBD is a nightmare, invariably full by 9am.

Note that one former significant bike space has been a building site for several months now (Hospital Road, overlooking the
Domain). Albeit a non-official parking space during its tenure, it would daily cater for 20-30 bikes.

There is now nothing for bikes over towards the law courts/legal leach end of town that I'm aware of.

However the Motorcycle Council NSW www.mccofnsw.org,au have indeed been active in lobbying City Council and RTA generally.

Lend your support by frequenting the website and perusing the issues. Occasionally a call-to-arms is required for various events.
Yes, they're "responsible" and doing good things for all matters motorcycling.

The Sydney City Council has been talking with the MCC about parking.

I'll hunt the SCC bod responsible so people can thank them.

Please do Zebee - I'd like to send the guy (or gal) a slab (or bunch of
flowers). (Not necessarily in that order, it is Sydney after all).

Some more spots have appeared on the Kent St near King St in fron tof
som ebuilding work and also closer to the the intersection.

For thos who regularly park in Kent St out the the front of Camera
House, if you miss out, keeping going North on Kent another 100 metres
approx and you will see them on your right (Eastern side).

Probably enough room for another 10 bikes there.

For two glorious days, I got in at my normal start time (9:30) and got
    parking spots close to work.

And for those who still can't find a spot, just park behind the
building alignment. City Rangers won't touch you unless there is a
    complaint from the building owner.

I heard that the law had changed regarding this and that the Parking
Inspectors can still get you on this one as they now lay claim to all
the footpath, behind the building line or not.

Maybe Zebee or someone from MCCNSW could clarify this?

  12. And if they don't, what's a few metres between where the bike actually sits
and what the inspector's fine-o-matic actually prints out?

    Bzzzt wrong?

    Let me get this straight...

You parked in the building line..
    You got a ticket..
You argued the ticket and the IPB still said no.

    Dane: 1+1=2
    James: YOU'RE AN IDIOT, 1+1=2 YOU....YOU IDIOT

Let me know when you lose the court case. You do know judges have a
prerecorded tape which says "pay the ticket fuckstick" don't you?
