Help i'm looking for a bike to bike intercom so that myself and the gaffer
can keep in touch and i can annoy her with my singing
Have been looking on Ebay and they seem to have allan 525s and cobra 525s
for about the same price, does anybody have anything to say about either of
these systems, or suitable alternatives -apart from hand signals
    Cheers and beers

The Cobra 525 has no VOX, so you'd be using PTT, which is a PITA. My setup
    ( one way communication ) is a Cobra 700 ( similar to the newer 725 ) with
the Maplin helmet kit and with a little dongle to replace the switch and
give me VOX. My students are provided with a 525 and earpiece.

I'd go for the 725s with VOX.

You can get some cheap PMR446 from Maplins which may well suit your purpose.
My first set [1] where Midland/Alan cheapies without CTSS. Big mistake as
they pick up every bloody taxi/twat around.
