I know that heaps of you have prolly seen this a million times, but I
hadn't seen it before, so I figure there may be a few others that also
    hadn't.

On the website it poses the question...

Should a motorcyclist really spend their final journey in the back of
    a car?

Made me think, and I think I would definitely prefer this....

There is at least one of those in Sydney. I can't find the URL and I have
seen adds for others in the country

    Reminds me of the simpsons
"were working on a cure for what killed Montgomery burns"

then in the background you hear....
"hooray we've found the cure for eight stabs in the back, only three to go[1]"

[1] cant remember the exact numbers, but it goes along that line anyhow.

Hmm, yes, but bear in mind that funerals are only for the living. The
corpse dont really give a shit one way or the other do they? Wrap me in
an old blanket and stuff me up a hollow log I say. Perhaps wait 'till
    I'm dead though...

    Cheers,
    Ash

It'll never happen. You reductionist you..
Your comment touches on the very heart of what it means to be self-aware
and how this is achieved in a biological or other structure. If you believe
that all your thoughts are easily reducible down to a knowable (and
interpretable) pattern of neuronal firings then perhaps your software
person is possible. However, there are those who think that this will never
happen: ie. it is theoretically possible to know all the individual
neuronal activity at a particular point in time but to extrapolate this and
predict behaviour or copy an individual is a whole other matter. There are
mathematical models that suggest that your suggestion is impossible.

  14. A fat lot of good that does you, as some machine that thinks it is you
runs around long after you have turned to fertilizer.

  16. I'm tipping science will never come up with a cure for hitting the back of a
    bus at 160Km/h...

    I'm afraid I didn't do that, Dave...
    </tone>

I haven't even heard of it. Wozzitlayk? Although, something with a title
like "Cosmic Conspiracy" probably wouldn't catch my eye to begin with.

The story I mention was, I think, one of Gregory Benford's efforts from the
mid 80's... read it a long time ago now...
