Went along to the expo last night. Lots of manufacturer/distributer stands
with all sorts of stuff. Way too many stands selling mini-moto bikes and an
overrepresentation of Harley choppers on display too. Heaps of bikes on
display from almost all manufacturers which covered the entire ground floor
space of the Exhibition Building. Pity BMW didn't have the new K1200S there,
but instead they had a big tv showing a couple K1200Ss racing at speed through
the deserted streets of a city. Kawasaki had a ZX10R with a neatly cutaway
engine/frame to expose some of the internals. A ducati monster styled Cagiva
125 2 stroke. Honda's centrepiece was the Rune... did someone say BIG?

There was a mob there selling a new motorcycle tie-down called "Tyre Down"
which is a pretty simple bracket which sits over the back tyre and lets you
cart the bike around without the suspension compressed. Might interest some.

    <snip>

    my impressions

note to Honda.....hello,hello, its a motorcycle show, why the F1 and
    lawnmowers??
note to organizers....hello,hello, its a motorcycle show, why the **** do we
want a autograph of a V8 supersnores driver??...and turn the bloody PA down!
note to Peter Stevens...hello,hello, its a motorcycle show, what's with all
    the water craft??
note to Suzuki..........everyone of your god damn bikes are fuggly!!!! you
    have lost the plot!
note to netrider, I'm so glad you didn't pay money for the stand :p

really disappointed with the lack of clothing there
really happy with the girls in the tight lycra dresses
love the new layout if the bikes downstairs and the accessories upstairs

over all, not a bad show, well worth the $15

I heard that the show is a Jeff's Shed next year due to the up stairs bit of
the Exhibition Building being turned into a museum of such, pity in a way,
because love the atmosphere of the old building, but maybe with more space
it will be a bigger and better show

high light of the show, me standing next to this and staying to Nev

with some dick in his Ducati jacket stand very close by
"Hey, I think we'll call this bike the 'I dont look stupid enough already
    down at Chapel St' bike"

...and after you announce that he's available to sign autographs, don't repeat
it every 2 minutes... it makes it sound like noone is interested getting in
his autograph. It would probably have helped if they'd mentioned that he was
    a Bathurst winner.
That was Peter Stevens Geelong, they sell that stuff.. I guess they figured
the manufacturers were bringing the bikes, there was no point bringing their
    own.

You forgot to have a go at Ford for displaying cars in their stand.
The SV650/1000s look ok... Pity about the GS500F.

There was one sv650 and that was the unfaired version.
One thing that worries me if one owns it is that the radiator would be
the first part of the bike should it fall off the sidestand or in any
    fall for that matter.
Even if you put oggy knobs on it they would have to be very long ones.

I was with some friends yesterday who went to the show and apparently this is
the creation of the bloke on American Chopper.. Jesse James ??(people with
pay-TV may know about this. I've never watched it).

"So far Howard's luck has survived a great deal: his move to dismiss
broken election pledges by distinguishing between "core" and "non-core"
promises; his retrospectively time-limited "never ever" pledge on the
goods and services tax; his vagueness about when he committed Australia
to war against Iraq; his shifting standards for ministerial conduct; his
demonising of asylum seekers as child killers; his tendency to blame
"advice" rather than to openly accept responsibility when things go wrong."
Will Howard's luck survive another election ? Do Australians not care
that their PM is a liar ?
