So, in this long life of yours, have you ever crawled your troll ass
out from under mommy's skirt long enough to see the real world?

You write of the actions of all bikers. Only a true fucking idiot would
    make such ludicrous generalizations.

Bikers "SELDOM" obey the speed limit? Uh, when is the last time you
drove on a real road, in the real world? You get run over if you're
actually driving the speed limit, asshole. And would you care to guess
what the majority of these vehicles are? They are cars, trucks, and
    SUV's - dumbass.

We are truly at an advantage here - you make ignorant generalizations
about a group of people you know little or nothing about. A perfect
example - you have never seen me ride. On the other hand, I have read
your post. You don't know what kind of a rider I am, but I know you are
    an asshole.

If you're as old as you imply that you are, we can all take solace in
the knowledge that you will most likely die before any of us. I look
forward to it. If we die on our bikes, it will be quick. May your death
be a drawn-out affair that includes plenty of pain, suffering, and loss
of dignity - and financial ruin to your family, of course.

    Have a nice day Troll.

Mommy wouldn't let him have a motorcycle, and this is his way of
    dealing with it.

    LOL!

I recall reading many years ago a test of peripheral vision done by a
motorcycle magazine. The limitations cited by the ABATE crowd was shown
to be a absolute nonsense, as will just a few moments in the back yard
with an assistant. And yes I did verify their results with my Shoei.
If, I repeat, IF, your helmet limits your peripheral vision, buy a
    better helmet.

As for the improved hearing while riding lid-less, I throw the brown
flag; 15 yard penalty for bullshit. Having ridden both ways I will
agree there is a difference in sound QUALITY but NOT necessarily any
advantage in detection; wind (i.e. background white noise is greatly
decreased WITH the full face helmet. And anything less than a full face
is nearly pointless in case of a crash, unless of course you are already
    butt-ugly.

And finally, aren't most of those touting the hearing advantage of
riding without head protection the same assholes running obnoxiously
loud - read illegal - open pipes on their Milwaukee Slag, which they
howl is needed to alert their presence to cars, a mile and a half away?
So, since I cannot hear my radio over their exhaust with my windows
up, how the **** can they possibly claim to hear ANYTHING short of an
F-14 doing an 800 knot flyby?

    Can't have it both ways.

  9. You're probably right on both counts. I don't own a full-face
helmet with shield, so I couldn't perform a test if I wanted to. I
*did* ride a GS850 with (on highway) and without (cruising the
boulevard) helmet back when I was younger. I could be wrong, but I
sure felt like I had a much better grasp of my surroundings without
the helmet. Then again, I was in stop-go-stop traffic where I never
got over about 20 miles an hour, and I wasn't on a Harley with
    unrestricted pipes.
And I'm *sure* you're right here.

I think the real issue with those hardcore Harley types (my brother
was one back in his day) is just having the wind in their hair.
Stupid, I know. But unless you have an open cockpit bi-plane or
something to that effect you never really get to enjoy the feeling of
freedom that affords. And the fact that it *is* irresponsible is,
oddly, rewarding. Just like taking your Hayabusa up over 100. You have
a blow out at 130 on a freeway somewhere and you might be enjoying
your last moments. I guess the obvious difference here is that the AMA
isn't lobbying for 120mph legal speed limits. But I've seen plenty of
people do plenty of stupid, irresponsible things for the sake of
freedom and thrill. People from all walks of life. Yet we're gonna
condemn Harley riders because they're different? How many of you see a
nice Hot Rod pull up next to you at the red light with loud exhaust
and don't think twice about it? Nobody says, "That asshole's giving
    Beemer owners a bad name!"

I say if a rider is willing to risk it, and has the minimum medical
insurance to cover his ass, let him ride sans helmet.

I do think there should be a maximum decibel limit on exhaust
though. I've heard some uncorked sport bikes that scare the hell outta
me when they downshift and rap 'em out right next to my truck. Holy
    cow!

Anyway, no offense intended. Just musing the subject.

The loudest of pipes is quieter than the wind noise at any reasonable speed,
whether you wear a helmet or not. It's a different matter for spectators though.

I couldn't help but notice many references to "trolling wanker" on this
    post. I have three questions:

    1) What's a trolling wanker?

    2) How might I become a trolling wanker?

    3) What COMPELS you to RESPOND to a trolling wanker?
