I want a motorbike, early mid life crisis.

Whats the best way to do it?
Do the CBT get a small bike and do the test at a leisurely pace?

Or go straight for lessons and test?

    Any input appreciated,

    Cheers,
    Rick

Go into the shop and buy one.

Biking is a very marmite thing, either it likes you or you die. If it
likes you then the 125 route is an unsatisfying road to ride.

You have had a drink, have you ever noticed how bikers always get there
    first?

    Two things

    1) That's not unusual for my postings
    2) It will, if you stick around long enough.

Seriously, do DAS and get a proper bike.

are you an accountant or bank manager?

If so, buy a Harley, leather chaps, and hang around High Beach whilst
people on proper bikes laugh at you.

    CBT:
One or two days on a 125cc bike
The rest of your training on a 500cc bike.

Do the direct access test on the 500cc

I remember first meeting Darsy at Highbeach he took one look at my new bike
    and said...."it's a bit clean".

The 125 route would be a temporary one.

How long does bike training and test tend to take? Is it much like vehicle,
    months of a job?

I'm not so sure about that myself. I wouldn't use the term "crap my
pants" exactly, but pretty much every time I went out on my 125 for the
first week or so, I seriously wondered whether or not I'd make it back
    home in one piece.

It's just as well really, as I'd probably have got bored and given up
    otherwise.
