My copy of motogp2 for the pc just came.

    http://www.thq.com/games/52016/

It will be 2 days until my joystick comes, and it's just hell to run it with
    the keyboard.

But motogp2 is so gorgeous. It is just like being there. You won't believe
it until you try it! And it's only $20, or $30 with tax and shipping.

It promises to run really nice with the joystick. I've sent for a MS
Sidewinder 2, which gets good reviews at its pricepoint.

Of course, it's the 2002 season.

McWilliams' bike steers better from the keyboard than Kato's.

If you don't touch anything after starting it, it cycles through demo race
    segments.

I didn't let it go into its dx 9 install, because I already have that up to
date, so I don't know if it would have noticed and not installed.

Not sure how I typed that. It's a Sidewinder 1.0.

I almost bought this but I heard that it sucked compared to
GP500. Not that the graphics sucked, but that the "feel"
sucked. It was hard to actually crash and was more like
an arcade game than a real simulation. I hope I am wrong
    though.

  4. In my opinion, your right.............GP500 is still a better
simulator...........MotoGP2 for PC is nice to look at, but I find myself
    going back to GP500..........

Hmmm, having both and I prefer GP500.

What input device for these games? Joystick, wheel? Keyboard arrow keys?
Or is there a handlebar device?

I use a joystick for GP500 and like it. There is also a
handlebar device that was made for Ducati. I don't
know if it is still available though.

The brake lever was just off-on.

I've run it with the joystick now. The bike doesn't respond as I'd like.
When you straighten the joystick, the bike doesn't pop up. It comes up
as if on hydraulics. To get it up faster you must momentarily stab the
joystick the other way. However, it's learnable and the feeling tearing
out of fast corners is really neat! I wasn't aware that the curves at
Phakisa aren't constant-radius. In the game, they're really tricky.

Get this: When replaying, if you choose rear view, at the places you
went off the track there's a rut in the grass, and dust flying up and
    hanging in the air!

Pretty good for $20 US - $28 postpaid.

I've discovered wheelbase adjustment. Now, short wheelbase is fun! Was
running in the mid-range. Now she steers responsively. Still a little delay
    straightening up.

Plus sim level. Must be realism control. Sticking at zero for now.

At this level - Rookie - you have to hit someone pretty hard to fall off.
And the marshalls get you going again.

It's so funny to watch the replay afterwards.
